Description

The G110 isn’t just another Grosset Riesling – it’s the result of a father–daughter experiment that turned into one of the most exciting small-batch wines in the country. Back when she was studying, Jeffrey Grosset’s daughter Georgie suggested they taste their Rieslings clone by clone, vineyard by vineyard. One section of Rockwood, planted to the 110 clone, stood out so clearly that it demanded its own bottling. And so, G110 was born.

This patch of vines is just a few rows wide, yet the fruit delivers something distinct – more fleshy and full than Polish Hill, with weight and chalky texture but still carrying Grosset’s signature purity and drive. Extended time on lees adds a subtle savoury dimension that lifts it into another gear.

The 2024 release has already caught attention, with Mike Bennie calling it “somewhat rich, extremely energetic, powerful and so very fresh and long,” and scoring it 97 points. It’s a wine of concentration and swagger, but never heavy – a singular expression of clone, soil and site.

Only 150 cases exist. For collectors and Riesling devotees, this is one of those rare bottlings that shows exactly why Jeffrey Grosset is considered one of the greats of modern Australian winemaking.

We have just 12 bottles available of this release.

"There's swagger of concentration and chalky texture. There's a huge volume... That it all meshes beautifully is another thing to sing from the rooftops. This is a very, very impressive riesling."
- Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

The Wine Advocate 98 Points

The 2024 G110 Riesling leads a talc-y attack of white flowers, white pepper, crushed sea shells, quartz, slate and placid white spice. The wine languidly blankets the tongue—the acidity is saline and fine and creates a web of salivation, but it does not deter from the overall Zen nature and cast of this wine. Extended time on the lees has contributed subtle textural complexity, without any hint of lees characters, an attribute. This single clone is excellent in every season but nevermore so than in 2024. It was a challenging season for some due to extreme frosts early in the growing season, but if fortune smiled upon the vineyard, the wines were exceptional. 12.8% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Another excellent vintage for this tiny quantity, single clone riesling (110), with G, for Georgie Grosset whose bright idea it was. The G110 is subtly perfumed yet persistent, intense and powerful through the mid-palate and onto a lingering finish which is tight, ultra-dry, pure and fine. Grown and made under biodynamic certification, this wine has once again undergone extended time on lees. This encourages yeast autolysis which, combined with the distinctiveness of the clone and uniqueness of the vineyard site, contributes to its most distinctive flavour profile.
