Description

Elanto is Sandro Mosele's Mornington Peninsula project, and it's a seriously ambitious one.

Since planting what Halliday calls Australia's most ambitious high-density Pinot Noir vineyard in 2018, he's already picked out individual parcels with their own personality. The Basalt comes from mid-slope, off the east side of the vineyard, where the basalt sits closer to the surface.

Expect wild strawberries and black cherries, rose petals and sweet spice, with a savoury, foresty undercurrent, five-spice and a hint of charcuterie. It's medium-bodied and silky, but there's real intensity here, with fine, supple tannins and fresh acidity carrying it to a long finish.

A unique, special occassion Pinot from a Mornington legend!

"There's so much perfume and life to this wine and yet for structure and length it's A-Plus."

97 points - "Since planting Australia’s most ambitious high-density pinot noir vineyard in ’18, Sandro Mosele has already identified unique parcels, this mid-slope and off the east side of the vineyard where basalt is closer to the surface. Such an individual imprint: incredible perfume of wild strawberries and black cherries with forest floor, Middle Eastern spices, menthol and orange zest with more savoury nuances coming through. Complex and detailed. There's a little pinch of green walnut, but mostly sweet fruit coats the mid-weighted palate, as do abundant supple tannins, before the cleansing acidity does its job." - Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)

96 points - "This is firm and complex but mostly it’s a celebration of pinot noir. It’s an archetype in the best of ways. Cherries, strawberries, sweet spices, red roses and undergrowth notes come threaded with stern-but-silty tannin. Again we’re in masterclass territory. There’s so much perfume and life to this wine and yet for structure and length it’s A-Plus." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

97 points - "Medium depth of garnet colour, showing some development in the colour, the bouquet is stemmy/foresty, highly detailed and aromatic, and suggests a fair proportion of whole bunches in the ferment, while the palate is refined, elegant and medium weighted but at the same time seriously intense. The wine is loaded with complexities, fivespice, smoked charcuterie, dried leaf-litter and subtle star anise traces, all lasting very long on the finish, accompanied by tense, fine-grained and harmonious tannins. This is different, and very impressive." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

Basalt is a mid-slope site planted towards the western end of the property, where the soils are shallow and the basaltic stone, which is the parent rock for the whole Elanto site, is more apparent.

This is the finer of the two lieux-dits, with restrained, delicate aromatics and gliding graceful tannins. Savoury and spicy, with plentiful red and black fruit weight, some sous-bois complexity, and a long, linear finish.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
