Description
From the deep, sandy soils of Blewitt Springs comes one of the most distinctive reds in the Commune of Buttons lineup. The Sable vineyard is home to old Syrah and Grenache vines - some more than 80 years old - that produce fruit full of perfume and power.
Jasper picked both varieties on the same day (about 60% Syrah, 40% Grenache), keeping the winemaking simple to let the site do the talking. After a slow, three-week maceration, the wine spent 18 months in large old foudre, allowing the tannins to soften without losing freshness.
It’s medium-bodied and beautifully balanced, showing plush plum and violet tones, fine sandy tannins and a long, mineral finish. There’s an easy flow to the wine, but it never feels loose because there's plenty of tannin there to keep things tight.
