Description

Tasmania’s cool southeast coast is home to some of the island’s most distinctive wines, and Bream Creek’s Sauvignon Blanc has long been a quiet achiever in that mix. From a site just inland from Marion Bay, where sea breezes temper the climate and extend the ripening season, this 2024 release shows the kind of clarity and lift that Fred Peacock and his team consistently nail.

It’s all estate-grown fruit, picked for freshness and fermented to keep the varietal crunch without losing depth. The result is a wine with plenty of flavour - think grapefruit, passionfruit, and a hint of tomato leaf - but held in check by crisp acidity and a subtle, chalky texture. No shouty thiols, just a measured, well-made Sauvignon Blanc with genuine regional character.

The 2024 vintage was tricky - wild swings in temperature and rainfall kept everyone on their toes - but it’s yielded a wine that’s composed, layered and ready for a long afternoon with some grilled prawns or snapper.

91 points - "Pale in the glass with a flash of green and vibrant aromas of gooseberry, tomato leaf, blackcurrant leaf, citrus and light tropical tones. Hints of rockmelon, crushed stone, wildflowers and almond meal. A swell of texture on the palate. Grapefruit pith ... that's it, with passionfruit notes as the wine fades into the distance." - Dave Brookes (Halliday Wine Companion)

90 points - "Pungent, catty kind of aromas, lantana and gooseberry; lots of thiols here. The wine has moderate fruit intensity backed up by quite firm tannins which leave an enduring grip and a slight astringency. It seems totally dry, and has the backbone to partner food—indeed needs food at least at this early stage." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

This wine features pronounced aromas of blossom, passionfruit, rockmelon and grapefruit. The palate is fresh and largely follows the nose with an additional hint of blackcurrant leaf playing a supporting role to the fruit. This wine is intense but beautifully balanced and the fabulous soft, chalky mouthfeel leads to a finish of excellent length.

Vintage 2024 Overview
The 2024 vintage brought one of the most unusual and unpredictable weather patterns in recent memory. Localised conditions swung between very cold and unusually warm spells—often accompanied by rainfall. These fluctuations led to mixed yields across varieties, but the absence of vine stress throughout the growing season resulted in excellent fruit quality, albeit at the cost of volume.

Tasting Notes
This wine offers pronounced aromas of blossom, passionfruit, rockmelon, and grapefruit. The fresh and vibrant palate echoes the nose, with a supporting note of blackcurrant leaf adding complexity.

The texture is a highlight—intense yet beautifully balanced, with a soft, chalky mouthfeel that flows into a finish of excellent length.

Food Pairing
Perfectly suited to fresh white seafood, especially when grilled on a BBQ on a hot, sunny day. This wine is made for relaxed, summery occasions.
