Description

Adelina's is one of the older Grenache sites in Clare Valley, and it produces a wine that's quite unlike most Australian Grenache.

Block 2 at Springfarm is planted to 80-year-old Grenache vines on grey sandy loam, farmed organically by Col McBryde and Jennie Gardner at 460 metres. The 2024 was destemmed, half the berries crushed, then fermented in concrete with 20 days on skins. From there it went into a Drunk Turtle amphora for 19 months, meaning no oak at all. The whole approach is about clarity and texture, letting the fruit and site come through without interference.

The result is fine and pale, delicate in structure but not lacking in character. There's red fruit, spice and earthy complexity, with sandy tannins that grip without any hardness and a finish that's clean and savoury. At 13.3% it's light on its feet for Grenache, which is part of what makes it so easy to drink, though there's enough shape and structure for it to develop well in bottle too.

A seriously individual Aussie Grenache.

"This is one of those wines that’s more about the feel of it than the flavours... There’s almost an alpine Nebbiolo character about it. So lovely."

"A pretty, plush and bright grenache, leaning into the flavour potential of Clare Valley with compact, fine and sleek tannins... Elegance in its way."

95 points - "This is one of those wines that’s more about the feel of it than the flavours. It’s fine and clear, almost delicate with pumice stone tannin grip and balanced soft acidity. Strawberry, dried herbs and flowers, almond and fennel. There’s a dusty spiciness to it as well along with a discreet clay-like and nutty earthiness. There’s almost an alpine Nebbiolo character about it. So lovely." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

94 points - "A pretty, plush and bright grenache, leaning into the flavour potential of Clare Valley with compact, fine and sleek tannins. A load of dark cherry, bright strawberry, woody spice, some earthiness, a touch of new leather and grunty, ferrous elements, all of which feel dosed with Italianate herbs. A suppleness and yet shape from lacy, silty tannins. Elegance in its way." - Mike Bennie (Halliday Wine Companion)

94 points - "Aromatically, the wine is light, matching the color in the glass, with dried rose petals, paprika dolce, dried mint and freshly turned earth. The palate is silky, fine, dusty/earthy and a little bloody, with layers of delicate—tissue-paper fine—flavor. It lingers through the finish. There's something else there too that is on the darker end of the spectrum, though still fine, like graphite or dried violet. It's very good, anyway. 13.3% alcohol, sealed under screw cap." - Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)

Adelina

Adelina Wines, established by Jennie Gardner and Col McBryde, is situated in the Springfarm Valley of Clare Valley. With vineyards dating back to 1910, the estate includes Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro, Malbec, and a unique field blend. Col and Jennie, both PhDs in microbiology, have transformed the vineyard with organic farming methods, achieving certification in 2020.

Their wines are known for delicacy, purity, and terroir expression, featuring old vine Shiraz and Mataro, exceptional Nebbiolo, and vibrant Rieslings. The 80-year-old Grenache vines produce fine-boned, high-toned wines, while the Shiraz showcases bold flavors and impressive tannins.

Sustainability is central to their approach, with minimal water use, manual weeding, and maintaining native scrub. They are also pursuing carbon-neutral certification. Adelina Wines embodies quality and innovation, offering wines that reflect their unique terroir and sustainable practices.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
