Description

Neudorf takes a different approach to its Moutere Chardonnay with Rosie’s Block, fermenting entirely in clay amphora. It gives this single vineyard a chance to show its depth and texture without oak flavour shaping the wine.

Planted in 1999, Rosie’s Block sits on a northwest-facing slope in Upper Moutere, Nelson. The vines are dry-grown and certified organic, with a warm, largely dry finish to the 2023 season delivering generous fruit ahead of a trouble-free March harvest.

Hand-picked grapes were whole-bunch pressed and fermented with wild yeasts in amphora. Full malolactic fermentation and ten months on lees developed the palate, followed by two months in stainless steel before bottling without fining.

There’s concentrated fruit, a little flint and a fresh, saline edge, with a rounded texture that gives the wine substance. The combination of Moutere fruit and amphora ageing makes this a distinctive Chardonnay: generous in feel, fresh on the finish and full of interest.

"It's a lesson in building texture without oak influence. This wine lacks for nothing; it's abundant with fruit, spice and full-bodied creaminess. Acidity zips and zaps about the palate. Totally magical."
- Shanteh Wale (Halliday Wine Companion)

"Lots of texture, lots of grip, brightness of fruit flavours and a general sense of quality overall. This is a winner."

95 points - "100% amphora fermented, 10 months on gross lees, 2 months on fine lees and matured in stainless steel. This is produced to showcase the Moutere clay gravels it grows on. From the very first glimpse you'll be awestruck by its charisma. Pineapple core, Alphonso mango, white peach and jackfruit. Sunflower kernels, bee pollen and yuzu. The palate manages to feel refreshing and pure whilst enlivened with rocky river stones, aloe and crème fraîche. It's a lesson in building texture without oak influence. 94 points - "Textural impressions of succulence and chalky dryness with green apple, ginger, lime juice, pink grapefruit and a mix of ginger and peppery spice. It’s a heady wine in its flinty, smoky minerality but does that with aplomb and well mixed into assertive fruit characters too. Lots of texture, lots of grip, brightness of fruit flavours and a general sense of quality overall. This is a winner." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
