This is Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 101.

Murdoch Hill is a producer that should be on your radar, with winemaker Michael Downer one of the real up-and-coming talents in the country. This Chardonnay might not have the pizzaz and funk of his 'Artisan' releases, but boy oh boy is it a good drink.

It comes from a selection of different vineyards in the Adelaide Hills, providing complexity, balance and depth to the final product. Light and fresh on the one hand, creamy and mouth filling on the other. It's a mighty fine drink and nifty value.

The wine displays elegance and finesse, with subtle complexity from barrel fermentation and the region’s hallmark bright fruit flavours. Citrus, green apple and grapefruit driven on the palate, supported by lively acidity and structure.

Murdoch Hill is a family-owned winery captained by talented young winemaker Michael Downer.

Downer splits the range in two: his clean-cut, consistently high-quality ‘Estate’ wines are excellent value and perpetually reliable, and his quirky, adventurous ‘Artisan’ wines which offer an alt-styling and different shades of the region.

With the combination of high-quality Adelaide Hills fruit grown on the family estate and the undoubted talent in the winery, this is a Hills producer on the up and up!
