Joyously drinkable just-off-dry Pinot Gris that bounces out of the glass with fresh pear, nectarine and finger lime aromatics.
This is a 'two-island' PG with grapes coming from the main Waiheke Island and its smaller friend, Ponui Island.
Despite a challenging vintage with wet and humid conditions, the harvest months brought better weather, resulting in wines that are light, elegant, and deliciously delicate. The grapes for this Pinot Gris are hand-picked and macerated to enhance the flavor and aroma compounds from the skins. Fermentation is carefully controlled to achieve the perfect balance of sugar, acid, and tannin, creating a wine that is fresh and lively.
On the nose, the wine showcases fresh pear, citrus, and white pepper aromas with floral hints of jasmine and gardenia. The palate is vibrant with a zest of lime and a crunch of Braeburn apple, finishing long, delicate, and fresh.
The fruit sugars remaining mean this is a tremendous fit for quality dishes that pack a bit of chilli or pepper heat. Maybe with some fresh calamari.
