From old vines and organic vineyards, this is classic Dog Point - flinty, creamy, salty and bright, with enough structure to age but more than enough charm to drink now.

Description

Dog Point is consistently one of Marlborough’s most dialled-in estates. Their Chardonnay is a modern classic that brilliantly walks the line between power and precision, packed with their trademark flinty, struck-match funk.

Sourced from their home vineyard with vines dating back to 1984, the winemaking here is completely unhurried. The fruit (a mix of Mendoza and B95 clones) is hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed, wild-fermented, and rested on full solids for 18 months in mostly older French oak.

This release is a tightly coiled, mouth-filling wine. It opens with smoke and toast before delivering a driving core of pure citrus, all pulled together by a signature saline edge. It’s magic right now with roast chook or scallops, but it absolutely has the bones to age.

"The 2023 Chardonnay is incredibly tightly coiled and mineral on the nose, with white flowers, crushed shells, wet chalk and white pepper. This is overwhelming "white" in character, and I love it... This is sapid and penetrating in its quiet way. Wow."
- Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)

95 points
"A precise, driven and vibrant chardonnay... Succulent and tactile, with a long, bright finish. Good value. From organically grown grapes."

96 points - "The 2023 Chardonnay is incredibly tightly coiled and mineral on the nose, with white flowers, crushed shells, wet chalk and white pepper. This is overwhelming "white" in character, and I love it. The saline, mineral aspect of it is highly attractive to me, and as it unfolds like an origami paper crane through the finish, it shows precision and finesse in equal measure. While 2022 may have been a challenging vintage in the vineyard, they saw none of that it in the 2023 season. This is sapid and penetrating in its quiet way. Wow. Sealed under screw cap." - Erin Larkin (The Wine Advocate)

95 points - "A precise, driven and vibrant chardonnay with aromas of lemons, sweet spices, flint and brioche. Medium-bodied with bright acidity. So focused, with plenty of drive and patina on the palate. Succulent and tactile, with a long, bright finish. Good value. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap." - James Suckling

Chassagne from NZ

Reductive, tight yet delicious with all the right fruits for a classic chardonnay. Organic without being hipster. Montrachet drinkers will not be disappointed, in my opinion.

Holy grail of stinky chardonnay

There’s nothing I love more than a full Chardonnay with those notes of moss - not sure how to describe this except for ‘stanky’. With the same allure as blue cheese with quick paste, the palate of this wine is very more-ish as a ‘fuller bodied’, not at all sweet or acidic delicious chard. Love!!

A pure, bright and youthful citrus driven chardonnay with complex smoky, flint, toast and biscuit notes derived from extended barrel aging on full solids. The hallmarks of Dog Point chardonnay are ever present here with pure saline and crisp palate structure. This vintage will have the ability to age well. Perfect match with scallops, white fish, poultry and BBQ pork.

2/3 Mendoza, 1/3 B95 clones hand-picked from our home vineyard at 2.5 tonnes/ha, from vines dating back to 1984. Fruit is whole bunch pressed and transferred directly to French oak barrels (10% new) and left to undergo indigenous primary and secondary malolactic fermentations for 18 months in barrel. Bottled without fining and with only minimal filtration.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
