Description

VS&B continue to kick goals with each release - without a doubt one of the great rising stars out of Victoria. Here comes their beautiful dry, complex rose - and it's right on point.

This is a blend of Shiraz from the Indigo Vineyard and Pinot Noir from the Brunnen Vineyard, and is a must-try for lovers of a more savoury style of rose;. It was made naturally with no additions except a little sulphur. Hand picked, basket pressed straight into, as Tessa puts it,"oooooooold barriques" then left alone on lees for a few months to build body.

Rose continues to grow in popularity and with so many easy-to-love examples like this out there at the moment, it's not hard to see why.

92 Points - "It's light, dry and savoury with a strong vein of spice. Tart cherry, a lick of raspberry, some red apple, a bit of ozone and peppery spice to sniff on. The palate is more of that tart cherry, a wash of white strawberry, also red apple, a bit of green herb and white pepper too. Feels vibrant, lean and skeletal overall, and summer in that, with broad appeal. Nicely done." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

93 Points - "<span class="cs-reviewBody">Pale salmon pink hue. Cherry, raspberry and Szechuan pepper aromas. Light to medium in weight with bright red cherry fruits and some subtle smoky spice tones. Creamy in texture, it glides with an appealing suppleness that brings you back to it repeatedly. Lovely by itself or with food</span> " - Stuart Knox (The Real Review)

    Delicious!

Light, bright, beautiful colour, wonderfully dry and eminently drinkable. Just love it!

It is wonderful to welcome Beechworth GI wines back into our offering after losing the fruit in 2020 to smoke!
This is Shiraz from Indigo Vineyard and Pinot Noir from Brunnen (the shaded south-east corner we always put to Rosé). Always hand-picked, crushed, foot stomped, basket-pressed and wild fermented in a mix of old puncheon and barrique. Effortless but complex, savoury Rosé.

Vignerons Schmölzer & Brown

Tessa and Jeremy are playing a long-game with their Vignerons Schmolzer & Brown label.

They have invested in a block of land high in the hills behind Beechworth and have planted 10,000 vines on it over the last couple of years with the plan to farm it organically. Tessa has a wealth of experience from time at Sorrenberg and Kooyong, Jeremy is an architect by trade with an eye for detail.

It comes as no surprise that the buzz around this husband and wife team is palpable and the praise is high. Max Allen called them, “one of a remarkable number of impressive new wine labels to have cropped up in Beechworth over the last five years.”

They are going to be at the forefront of Beechworth wine for many years to come.
