Description

This is a great value, robust, full-bodied Malbec from the Wilson family in Langhorne Creek. Malbec does exceedingly well in Langhorne Creek and Rebecca and her team produce one of the better examples in the region.

This region has become a happy hunting ground for lovers of bigger reds who are looking for value and an alternative to Shiraz or Cabernet.

Winemaker Rebecca Willson is a very dab hand at crafting Malbec, carefully selecting her prized parcels of Malbec for this cuvee.

The value here from the Wilson family is excellent. It's a big but beautiful red done to a 'T'. The perfect mid-week option for Malbec lovers.

95 points
"Don't blink or you may be floored by the intensity of this wine... Bremerton should open many doors with these Special Release reds."
- James Halliday (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 points - "Don't blink or you may be floored by the intensity of this wine. It was matured for 14 months in predominantly Hungarian oak. Its lees were stirred regularly to add texture and mid-palate weight a la the ’21 Bâtonnage Shiraz Malbec. Bremerton should open many doors with these Special Release reds." - James Halliday (Halliday Wine Companion)

Vegan friendly
Malbec, a variety once popular in France, is now mostly associated with countries such as Argentina and regions in South West France. Langhorne Creek has a long history with Malbec and the climate is exceptionally well suited.

This Special Release Malbec is the result of block selection, the parcels have been kept separate and nurtured for maximum expression of varietal character. This wine shows an intense perfumed aroma of violets and spice with a bramble lift, on the palate the wine is rich and fleshy with fine tannins.

Bremerton

Bremerton is a family-owned in winery based out of South Australia's Langhorne Creek. Established in 1988, the winery encompasses 120 hectares, crafting up to 18 unique cuvees, they have become known as one of the best value producers in the region.

Originally a Lucerne farm, the 1985 purchase of the 40-hectare "Bremerton Lodge" marked a shift to winemaking. The journey began in 1988 with the production of Cabernet Sauvignon, gradually expanding to include a diverse range of varietals. Despite setbacks, including a significant flood in 1992, the Willson family strategically transitioned the property into a renowned vineyard. By 1994, Bremerton embraced commercial winemaking, launching a cellar door in 1994 and achieving international acclaim for their Cabernet Sauvignon in 1997.

Guided by Winemaker Rebecca Willson and Marketing Manager Lucy Willson, the brand prioritizes high-quality and distinctive wines, earning Bremerton a solid position in the competitive market. Their dedication has secured a James Halliday 5-star winery rating for 17 consecutive years, placing them among the top 5% of Australian wineries. The Willson Sisters have successfully elevated Bremerton to prominence as one of South Australia's well-known wine brands from Langhorne Creek.
