Description

”There is serious history and intent behind these wines, but we didn’t want the range itself to feel too serious.”
- Sarah Crowe (Warramate Winemaker)

There's not many sub-$40 sparkling wines made with six years on lees, but that sort of great value is what Warramate is all about.

Pinot Meunier planted in 1990 supplies the richness, joined by Chardonnay grown specifically for sparkling. The hand-picked fruit was whole-bunch pressed and fermented in old oak before blending and a second fermentation in bottle.

Baked apple, strawberry and toasted pastry lead into a broad, finely textured palate. There’s plenty of richness from the extended ageing, balanced by lively acidity, gentle chalky grip and fine bubbles. A versatile, friendly, easy-to-like style.

Another home run from the Warramate / Yarra Yering team and a great option for lovers of richer sparkling wine.

"This is just so generous and flamboyant; it’s great to spend time with."

"Rich and toasty on the palate, broad and generous with a tingle of zesty acidity and chalky grip at the finish."
- Melissa Moore (The Real Review)

92 points - "This is a sparkling wine that I’d be happy to champion. It has satisfying length without being overtly persistent, and if you really wanted to dig your heels in it’s the finish that you’d turn your attention to. But boy, the aroma and the flavour here are the bomb. This is just so generous and flamboyant; it’s great to spend time with. Peaches, candied fruits, cooked apples, pastries and strawberries; all these characters present here, and all are delicious." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

92 points - "Pale to medium gold in the glass, with a fine, steady bead and aromas of toffee apple, warm hay and sea spray. Rich and toasty on the palate, broad and generous with a tingle of zesty acidity and chalky grip at the finish." - Melissa Moore (The Real Review)

VINES

1990 planted Pinot Meunier grown on ancient silty clay loam, blended with Chardonnay planted in 2013 to Clone 124, a specialist sparkling clone bred in Burgundy and renowned for producing large bunches suited to sparkling wine production.

WINEmaking

Made in the traditional bottle fermented method. Grapes are hand harvested and whole bunch pressed to minimise colour and phenolic extraction. The lightly clarified juice is transferred to old oak barrels for fermentation and matured for eight months before the varieties are blended for overall balance. The wine is then tiraged and left to rest on secondary yeast lees for six years prior to disgorgement, building texture, complexity and depth.

WINE

Pale straw in colour with golden hues reflecting the warmer growing season. Freshly baked apple strudel aromatics bring a sweet, toasted generosity, layered with notes of strawberry and baked apple. Pinot Meunier provides richness and fruit intensity, while Chardonnay contributes freshness and length. Generous and finely textured, the palate combines autolytic complexity with vibrant acidity and a fine, persistent bead.

cellaring

Once disgorged, the wine is ready for drinking. We disgorge regularly to preserve the vibrancy and complexity in the wine, and finish with a crown seal for added freshness.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
