About The Wine

Favorita is the Piemonte name for the white grape Vermentino, hence AJ Hoadley's renaming of this awesome skin contact white, which pulls back nicely from being a full-bore amber release.

The fruit comes from the great viticulturalists at Swinney, and it's quality stuff, with green apple, citrus and a lick of ripe phenolics, measured by a salty finish that hints at nuttiness,.

It spent five days on its grape skins, then time in oak with some lees contact, then only touch of sulphur added. A seriously good drink whatever drinking persuasion you profess to.

Few winemakers bring as much creativity and flair to their label as the mercurial Andrew Hoadley.

With a mischievous, child-like joy, he has set about crafting La Violetta, one of the most fascinating wine ranges in Western Australia, and indeed, the country.

His wines are inspiring, each a creation all of its own.

From The Producer

Hand-picked Vermentino (plus a few handfuls of Semillon and several Muscat varieties) destemmed and crushed before five days skin contact. Wine is pressed to seasoned French oak for wild fermentation at ambient cellar temperature. Aged on undisturbed on lees for five months, racked and bottled. Unfined, unfiltered with minimal sulphur added. (The name ‘FAV’ comes from the Piedmontese name for Vermentino, Favorita) 75 doz. made. ABV: 12.4%.

Intensely fragrant, with scents reminiscent of nashi, white flowers and honeydew melon. On the palate, the slippery delights of skin time bring a pleasing succulence, yet the overall impression remains savoury and delicate, as nuances of lees contact and barrel fermentation bring complexity that lingers. Delizioso!

Made from vermentino that spends about a week on skins. A wine that is made for my favourite Perth restaurant, Lulu La Delizia, but is now found and available further afield. Goes with nonna’s meatballs. Swinney Vineyard again the hero for La Violetta. This is beautiful. Feathery, powdery texture, intense sense of freshness, that taut-skin tension drawing out length and fruit flavours. It’s green apple, faint nuttiness, a splash of grapefruit juice and some frisky, saline mineral characters. Just beautiful. Do I have to order in dozens? No, please mix it up! You can order wines in any quantity and variation you like. You can order 1 bottle or 50. We challenge you to make the ultimate mixed pack of wine!

Are there volume discounts? No, our pricing is designed to be the best in market already - no marking up and then discounting down! For very large orders (weddings, etc) we are open to negotiating though. Just give us a call.

Do we price match? Yes, within reason. Everyday low & consistent pricing is something we strongly believe in. We want our customers to feel confident they are always getting the best price. If you see a price lower somewhere else let us know and we'll consider matching it. We'll even retrospectively issue you store credit if you have already purchased from us but you see a lower price somewhere later on. Our price match policy can be seen here.

Can coupons and discounts be stacked? No, only one discount or coupon can be applied to an order at once.

I am trying to add more of a wine to my cart but it won’t let me? This means we are running low on stock of that wine. So for example, if the website will only allow you to add 3 bottles and no more, then that is all we have of that particular wine. The good news is we may be able to order more for you. Just contact us on 02 8376 8775 or and we'll organise the additional quantity for you.

Does Different Drop have a physical store? No. Just an a warehouse/office. We occasionally do events however, so sign up to our newsletter or follow us on instagram to stay in the loop.

Can I special order a wine you do not sell? If it’s doable, then we’ll make it happen. Just contact us directly via phone, chat or email and we’ll find out for you right away. Please note that in most cases special orders such as these will need to be in full case lots (6 or 12 bottles).
