About The Wine

Godello is a white variety native to the  Bierzo and Galicia regions. It's a variety that shows lovely florals and gentle apple notes on the nose and has lively acidity making it delicious with a wide array of foods.

This version spent two months on lees before bottling, lending a gentle creaminess and fluffy texture to the final wine. It's a delicious version of this rarely seen Spanish varietal.

Lacking the full texture and flavour

Lacks the intent and complexity i have come to expect from a Spanish Godello.

    Godello Goodness

This is a cracker & despite its age, it still delivers remarkable lemon zest and white floral freshness with some developed dry roasted peanut characteristics. The palate is deliciously textural (it spent two months on lees before bottled) with a nice contrasting nectarine & aniseed spice lick; acidity and alcohol levels are spot on so it’s really well balanced. Not one to age any longer, it’s right at its peak now. These whites have shot up in price ex cellars thanks to the massive gain in popularity and the strong Euro in recent years so to see it priced online for under $25AUD recently, was a massive surprise. Get onto it before they sell out!

    Very good But

Dry and sharp, with an old sherry back palet, went very well with a rich paella with strong chorizo and paprika to give a perfect Spanish meal, but difficult to pair with softer flavours or on its own.
