2023 S.C. Pannell Grenache Shiraz Touriga
Steve Pannell’s love for Mediterranean varieties runs deep, and this blend shows exactly why. Grenache brings the lift, Shiraz brings the shape, and Touriga Nacional ties it all together with spice and perfume. It’s McLaren Vale fruit through and through – warm days, cool nights, and that mix of red clay and sand that keeps everything vibrant.
The 2023 season played right into Steve’s hands. A long, mild ripening meant bright fruit and plenty of natural acidity, so he could keep the winemaking gentle – wild ferments, basket press, and old oak to round it out. Nothing fancy, just fruit, place and texture.
In the glass it’s fragrant and juicy with raspberry, plum and a hint of rose and dried herb. There’s a touch of grip, a bit of spice, and a savoury edge that keeps it all in check. It’s lively, medium-bodied and dangerously drinkable – a wine built more for the table than the cellar.
2023 S.C. Pannell Basso Grenache
The Basso is the lighter, fresher, more 'smashable' version of Grenache from Steve Pannell. It's Steve's minimal-intervention wine - bottled with a minimal amount of sulphur, unfined and unfiltered.
Steve's wines are all about melding with our Australian culture and this is the perfect fit for our climate, our cuisine and our culture. Think backyard BBQ's!
It's medium-bodied, dappled with the lacy tannins and spice of early-picked Grenache - a deliciously jubey red but with the quality stamp of S.C. Pannell.
Just a great anytime/anywhere red from one of the country's finest winemakers.
2022 S.C. Pannell Dead End Tempranillo
The Dead End Tempranillo is a juicy, medium-bodied red that is yet another case in point the mastery of one of Australia’s most forward-thinking winemakers, the peerless S.C. Pannell. Sourced from vineyards in McLaren Vale, where Spanish varietals thrive, this wine is a perfect match for our warm Aussie climate and modern food culture.
Bright aromas of cherry compote, sarsaparilla, and cola leap from the glass, with hints of lilac, marjoram, and earthy undertones adding complexity. On the palate, it’s all about juicy red fruits with a subtle savoury edge. The tannins playfully tug at the flavours, delivering a dynamic mouthfeel that’s both refreshing and full of character.
A staple of the S.C. Pannell range, Dead End Tempranillo is designed for immediate enjoyment but has enough structure to develop in the bottle. If you’ve loved the award-winning Tempranillo Touriga, this one will be right up your alley—an easy-going yet deeply satisfying wine perfect for any occasion.

"Black cherry, blackberry pastille, cherry cola, black jellybean—all sans confection—chinotto, leather, panforte spicing, scrubby herbs, and a hint of violet or the like. The palate is dutifully structured with classic tapas-beckoning tannins. It’s got a bit of intensity and presence, though it’s not big by any stretch. Very nice."

2023 S.C. Pannell Nero Diavola
Steve Pannell's affinity with Italian varieties is well documented.
He has been a great champion of Italian red grapes and their suitability in the Australian climate and culture. Steve planted Nero d'Avola (Calabrese) on his Olivers Road vineyard a few years back. The wine is now here and ready to go.
This Sicilian variety makes soft, supple, slurpy wines that work well with a wide range of foods. Steve's central message always focuses on a fusion of wine with the Australian lifestyle. This wine is the perfect BBQ go-to.
A flood of berries, licorice, sweet spices and smooth, soft tannins, it's just a great all-rounder and a great addition to the S.C. Pannell stable.
2024 S.C. Pannell Montepulciano
Steve Pannell affectionately calls this "Italian giggle juice," and it is easy to see why. It is a happy, immediate wine, but it carries the serious intent that defines the Pannell label. Steve views Montepulciano as a variety with a huge future in the warm McLaren Vale climate - a grape that can deliver a fascinating juxtaposition of lean structure and ripe fruit, much like a red version of Fiano.
For those used to drinking big Aussie classics, this is the perfect gateway into the world of Italian varieties. In many ways, it isn't too dissimilar to a Shiraz, offering deep, dark fruit, velvety tannins and a flicker of spice. However, it wraps that familiarity in a slinky, seductive texture with a seasoning of that classic 'McLaren Vale chocolate' character the region is famous for.
It is a wine that works on two levels: it’s effortless and fun if you just want a drink, but cerebral and contemplative if you stop to pay attention. A versatile, food-friendly red that hits the sweet spot between fresh and rich.

"Very deep, dense, opaque purple colour; aromas of squashed raspberry, mulberry and cranberry, laced with fine herbs. An edge of broken rock and subtle farmyard. The palate is full-bodied and rugged with assertive tannins and a big firm finish that lingers on. This is different, and very smart."

2024 S.C. Pannell Field Street Shiraz
The Field Street is the best value entry point into the award-winning Shiraz wines of the one and only Stephen Pannell.
It’s the first Shiraz he picks and the first one he bottles, designed specifically to be the freshest, most approachable red in the lineup. While his single-vineyard wines can be pretty serious, this is all about immediate reward and easy drinking.
The fruit comes entirely from the Merrivale vineyard, a site that gives the wine plenty of plushness without that heavy, syrupy feel. Steve keeps the winemaking very simple - open ferments and old oak - basically just letting the fruit do its thing. We’ve always loved how he manages to make a wine this affordable feel so polished and unforced.
2024 is a cracker. It’s bright and crunchy, full of black cherry and plum with a nice savoury edge that keeps it from being just another fruit bomb. It’s got a lovely silkiness through the middle and a fresh finish that makes it dangerously easy to drink.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.
Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.
What that means for you:
- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate
Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.
**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.
If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
