Based in Santa Barbara County, Lieu Dit is the project of two long-time friends Eric Railsback and Justin Willett.
Justin a fledgling winemaker, and Eric an upcoming sommelier, shared the youthful enthusiasm of newcomers to the wine industry and formed quite a bond, that over the years grew into this project.
After numerous trips to France and lots of empty bottles, they founded Lieu Dit in 2011 and decided to focus solely on producing wines from varietals native to the Loire Valley, feeling that the varied micro-climates and marine-based soils of the Santa Barbera vineyards were the ideal match for Loire grapes.
Their focus: to create wines of purity, elegance and balance each year to create a picture in time.
