Mike and Claire Allen moved to Marlborough in 1990 both armed with experience in winemaking from two of the big houses in Champagne: Tattinger and Veuve Cliquot.
After working for local producers, Mike at Cloudy Bay and Claire Corbans and Lawson's Dry Hills, they turned their attention to their own project.
They planted their first vines in 1994 with Huia officially launching in 1996. Since then it's been full steam ahead.
They farm organically and are best known for their excellent value method traditional Sparkling and their excellent aromatic whites.
