Gustavo Martinez
The Itata region is found in the Central Valley in the south of Chile, about 500km south of Santiago in the Bio Bio region.
The first vines in the region were put down by Spanish settlers over 100 years ago. These old vines are great resources for new Chilean producers who are looking to make their mark.
Gustavo Martinez has access to some of these old plots. Since 2015 he has endeavoured to produce wines with no chemical adjustment that showcase the quality of these sites.
Natural wines shining new light on an old winemaking community - these are nervy, raw wines with plenty of personality and soul.
