Description

The Crécy Chardonnay is a specific study in clones and texture from Yarra Yering’s estate. It’s a blend of their original old-vine clones alongside newer, modern selections (Clones 548 and 95) planted across seven different plots.

The 2024 season was a cool one for the Yarra Valley, which really suits this style. Winemaking was hands-on and traditional: whole-bunch pressed and fermented in French oak (40% new), followed by 100% malolactic fermentation. It then spent 14 months on its primary yeast lees - 10 in barrel and 4 in tank - specifically to build weight and a creamy, layered texture.

The cool vintage delivers a sharp line of lemon citrus and minerality, but the "malo" and time on lees provide a soft, yoghurty creaminess that balances the acidity. There’s a pithy intensity and a gentle phenolic grip from the oak that gives the wine serious structure. It’s a compelling, well-balanced Chardonnay that is impressive now but will clearly flesh out and gain even more depth with a few years in the cellar.

"Pop a few of this wine into your stash and you’d be doing well. It’s built to age well... The air of confidence, that really wins you over. This is excellent, but I wouldn’t touch it for a few more years."
- Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

95 points - "Pop a few of this wine into your stash and you’d be doing well. It’s built to age well. It tastes of nectarine and brine, wax, honey-cream, subtle herbs and preserved lemon, but it’s the taut control of it, and the air of confidence, that really wins you over. This is excellent, but I wouldn’t touch it for a few more years." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

A cool 2024 season delivers minerality with lemon citrus zing and zest. Softened through malolactic fermentation, there is a light yoghurt creaminess to the palate texture with pithy intensity that enhances its weight and depth. The oak level is present and yet integrated adding a fine tannin structure and a gentle phenolic grip, creating a well-balanced and compelling wine. It has youth on its side and will flesh out with some bottle maturation.

Founded in 1969 by the visionary vigneron Dr. Bailey Carrodous, Yarra Yering has become a benchmark in quality and one of the most collected wineries in the country.

From this small patch of earth in the North of the Gruyere sub-region, Dr. Carrodous produced these legendary wines for more than three decades. In the process becoming recognised as one of the most influential winemakers in the Yarra's history.

Today, the wines are crafted by the talented Sarah Crowe. She brings the wines to bottle with the same passion and attention to detail that made the great Yarra Yering wines of old so revered.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
