Description

The Agincourt is Yarra Yering’s take on a classic Aussie Claret, and it’s also the wine you’ll want to reach for while the big hitters are tucked away in the cellar.

Sourced from vines planted in the early ’90s, this 80/20 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec is all about balance and effortless drinkability. Cabernet brings its signature dark fruits, leafy aromatics and cool-climate finesse, while the Malbec adds plush texture and a juicy, purple-fruited mid-palate. It’s a seamless combo, handled gently by winemaker Sarah Crowe and aged in mostly seasoned oak to keep the fruit front and centre.

Medium-bodied, polished and complete, this is the most immediately delicious of Yarra Yering’s reds.

A perfect snapshot of elegant, early-drinking Cabernet from one of Australia's great vineyards.

96 points - "Deep, brilliant and youthful looking purple colour; bell-clear cassis and mulberry aromas, cabernet fruit driving the wine. Violets, blueberries galore. Beautiful flavour and balance, all delivered with great elegance. Delicious wine which already drinks superbly, and will no doubt do so for many years." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

95 points - "A blend of 70/30% '95-planted cabernet/'90-planted malbec. Matured in French barriques (15% new). A medium bright crimson purple. Complex aromas of black cherry, blackcurrant, pencil shavings and potpourri spices. Good depth on the medium-bodied, finely tuned and gently crunchy palate. Lingers nicely and will give pleasure earlier than the '22." - Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 points - "In a difficult year I suspect some pretty good Cabernet normally destined for the Carrodus level found its way in here. On the nose a leafy sage bush and five spice characters reveal. The palate is medium weight and balanced with the jubey vibrant red fruit of the Malbec adding mid palate texture. Vibrant and alive with energy." - Ray Jordan (Wine Pilot)

94 points - "In flavour terms this leans heavily on cabernet. It’s a mid-weight, fresh, leafy red wine with plum, boysenberry, leafy herbs and mint running persuasively throughout. Cedarwood oak plays a minor but positive role, and from start to finish it feels both pure-fruited and perfectly well balanced. The charm factor is high here, as is the impression that tannin, tension and the wine’s assorted tastes and textures have all been arranged just so. The length of the finish here, infused with green olives characters, is of particular note." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

70% CABERNET SAUVIGNON, 30% MALBEC

Perfumed with lifted violets, mulberry and raspberry leaf. A refreshing berry fruit profile melts into and complements the savoury characters. Nettle with its earthiness and a cool leafy lift enhance the savoury clove spice element. The vibrant acidity, a result of the Malbec component, brings an acid crunch to the wine. A wine of wonderful fruit purity, savoury texture with some mocha warmth.

Founded in 1969 by the visionary vigneron Dr. Bailey Carrodous, Yarra Yering has become a benchmark in quality and one of the most collected wineries in the country.

From this small patch of earth in the North of the Gruyere sub-region, Dr. Carrodous produced these legendary wines for more than three decades. In the process becoming recognised as one of the most influential winemakers in the Yarra's history.

Today, the wines are crafted by the talented Sarah Crowe. She brings the wines to bottle with the same passion and attention to detail that made the great Yarra Yering wines of old so revered.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

No, all prices are set at the full discounted dozen rate already.

Most wine retailers list at a single-bottle price and then discount 10–15% when you buy six or twelve. We've taken the opposite approach. Since the overwhelming majority of our orders are already 6 bottles or more, our list price is set for the case buyer from the start. There's no inflated single-bottle price to discount down from.

What that means for you:

- One price, same for everyone — no minimum to hit to unlock the best rate
- No mixed-six gymnastics to qualify for a discount
- Our single-bottle price is typically at or below a traditional retailer's by-the-dozen rate

Put simply: the box discount is already baked into the price.

**And if you find it cheaper elsewhere?** Let us know. If the same wine is available at a lower price at another retailer (including at their mixed-six or by-the-dozen rate) we're happy to match it.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
