DD Classified: Value Stars

The producers we're featuring today are some of the best value producers in the country - in our opinion, at least. Dollar for dollar, they consistently offer some of the best buys from their respective regions.

If you're looking for bang for your buck, this is where we'd be spending our hard-earned dollarydoos! Check them all out below:

Garagiste

We think Barney Flanders has to be one of the best blokes in Aussie wine. His Garagiste wines represent everything awesome about the small, artisinal winemaking scene in the country.

If you want value, we'd argue there's barely a suite of wines in the country that can hold a candle to the outstanding Le Stagiaire range. He's also just released brand new offerings under his delicious Cotier range, which you won't find anywhere else and are just $29 a pop!

He's the Mornington man with the midas touch. Whether you're a long-time fan or a Garagiste rookie, there's never been a better time to explore this amazing producer. Don't hesitate - get your Garagiste on!

Bondar

Husband and wife team Andre Bondar and Selina Kelly are the brains behind Bondar. They make incredible wines that represent amazing value from the McLaren Vale region, all impeccably crafted and beautifully pure.

Their Violet Hour Shiraz has been one of the most consistently outstanding buys in Australia for some years now, with an unbelievable track record of high-scores as well as winning multiple wine show trophies and gold medals.

We've just had their 2021 release land and, as Andre himself has said, it "could be my favourite Violet Hour yet." We wholeheartedly agree, and we doubt you could find a better $30 McLaren Vale Shiraz than this one.

We recommend snapping up a bottle of this new vintage and familiarising yourself with the incredible value Bondar range while you're there!

Rieslingfreak

Is there a better value suite of Rieslings in the country than those made by the hands of John Hughes at Rieslingfreak? We think not.

He's a man with a single varietal focus, and he makes some of South Australia's most articulate, pure and elegant Rieslings. They sit comfortably among the best the area has to offer.

The 2022 Rieslingfreak stable is absolutely sensational, and we highly recommend getting familiar with John's amazing suite of wines. We also recommend checking out our exclusive 2021 Mosaik No. 11 Riesling while stocks last!

Domaine Naturaliste

If you want to see what Margaret River does best without spending a fortune, the wines of Bruce Dukes at Domaine Naturaliste are our emphatic recommendation for the best place to start.

The suite of Cabernets, Chardonnays, Sauvignon Blanc blends and Syrahs are incredible bargains. How he crafts such quality wines for such a low price, we'll never know - but who are we to complain?!

Check out this amazing value suite if you're after a Marg bargain - you'll even find the last remaining stocks of the 97 point Rebus Cabernet and 96 point Sauvage SBS blend!

Blue Poles

Blue Poles is a small, artisanal Margaret River producer that march to the beat of their own drum. Their wines are impeccably crafted in an 'Old World' style, and offer massive value to their incredibly loyal fan-base.

Their signature Bordeaux blend, the Allouran, is one of the region's best buys, year in year out. Mark Gifford believes the 2019 release to be one of the best vintage yet produced, and is a great way to get acquainted to the Blue Poles style.

Murdoch Hill

There is something for everyone in the tremendous value Murdoch Hill range headed up by Michael Downer, with a top-to-tail value-packed suite of wines that showcase the very best style of the Adelaide Hills.

The purity and elegance of these wines is a thing to behold. They are fine, beautifully poised and polished. There's a lot to enjoy in this range and we recommend familiarising yourself with Michael's wines tout suite!
