About the Wine
The purity and precision of cool climate Chardonnay is delight when highlighted by skilled winemakers like the Beckers.
The fruit was hand harvested to ensure quality and, after a natural ferment, was put into neutral oak for 10 months. The striking thing here is the purity - after some time in bottle, this will start showing some toast and nut, but at the moment it's all about pink grapefruit, melon and apples. It's certainly taking a cue from the whites of northern Burgundy, that's for sure. Drink it now for freshness and vitality - drink in a year or two to see some bottle aged characters.
About M & J Becker
Husband and wife duo, Meagan and James Becker are a part of the new guard based in the Hunter Valley, fighting to reshape the region and its rigid preconceptions surrounding the growth and production of wine.
Making their wines with a focus on minimal intervention, their estate vineyard is currently in the process of conversion to certified organics.
After cutting his teeth in California, James returns to Mendocino County once a year to produce small quantities of single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
M&J Becker Wines was realised to focus on Meagan and James passion for the region, and its ability to produce dry–grown and environmentally sustainable wine.
