About The Wine
Fruit for this Chardonnay was sourced from Bass River in Glen Forbes, a short distance from Western Port Bay. 50% of the fruit was wholebunch pressed to stainless steel tanks and settled before being racked to old French barrels to complete fermentation with wild yeasts. The other 50% was destemmed and fermented on skins for 7 days, before pressing and completing fermentation in barrel, where it underwent full malolactic fermentation. The wine then spent 10 months on its lees before bottling.
Due to its origins, the Fleet Glen Forbes Chardonnay shows lots of citrus, with a lovely, full texture, and notes of quince and hazelnut. The acidity is bright and refreshing.

They source their fruit from Gippsland, Mornington Peninsula and the Yarra Valley with an increasing amount being farmed by them personally. With plenty of great press coming their way in a relatively short time, they are one young Victorian label that you'd do well to keep a close eye on.
