Description

The Hurley Vineyard Pinot Noir is a blend of select barrels from the single block Pinot Noir releases on the Hurley Vineyard in Balnarring, Mornington Peninsula.

This is a sort of "voice-of-the-vineyard" wine where you get to see the nature of the season as told through the lens of Pinot Noir.

It's slinky and red-fruited and carries this wonderful perfume and sensual fruit with a grounding of crushed-rock tannin that is unusual to see in Australian Pinot Noir.

It's the entry-point to the Hurley range, the most open and inviting on release and it's a delight to drink.

93 Points - "The much celebrated wines of Hurley doth arrive!Svelte and yet a sense of lushness, bright cherry juice, a film of graphite minerality, excellent length and persistence. A lot of structure too. Fine, dusty tannins hang off the wine beautifully. It feels fresh but there's a sense of dried leaves and undergrowth in the mix. Evocative, charming pinot noir." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

95 Points - "Exacting attention to detail with this producer means if 1 of the 3 single sites is not up to scratch, it's declassified. A riper vintage means there is no Hommage, instead the fruit went into this Estate wine. While certainly plusher and richer in outcome, it is still distinctly Hurley. Lovely aromatics, an array of Middle Eastern spices infusing dark cherries with plush tannins and flow across a full palate. There is still a modicum of elegance and a very high level of delight." - Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)

    Superb Mornington Peninsula Pinot

There isn't much on the nose, and the colour is often light, but the palate explodes with flavour with a long complex finish. I've been drinking this Pinot for over a decade, and there can be huge vintage to vintage variation, but it never disappoints. Hurley make more expensive Pinots which are much better wines, but most mortals cannot afford those. At $45 there isn't much better than this.

This is blended from selected barrels of Lodestone and Garamond and all the barrels of Hommage. The grapes of these vineyards were harvested by hand on 1, 2, 3 and 4 March 2019, fermented under the action of indigenous yeasts, basket-pressed on 22, 25 and 29 March 2019 and, after twenty months in barrel (one quarter new), bottled on 3 November 2020. Closed with Diam cork.

Bright mid-garnet in colour. Expressive aromas of nougat, ripe cherries and rosewater create an initial impression of ripeness and lift. The palate is intense and persistent with black cherries and cassis complemented by cake spice and a luscious texture balanced by fresh acidity and fine enduring tannins. The overall effect is one of generosity without exaggeration. To 2028.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
