About the Wine
Aligote is often overlooked as the "second white grape" in Burgundy, given that Chardonnay is much more famous, more widely planted, and generally creates wines with a lot more character and ageability. Nevertheless, this grape – which was only recorded for the first time in the 18th century – makes some lovely, fresh wines, and is back on the rise.
The Vincent Girardin Bourgogne Aligote is sourced from 50-year-old vines planted on clay and limestone. With lots of acidity and a lovely mouthfeel, there are pear and apple aromas and flavours, as well as citrus and vanilla. The wine is graceful and delicate, with a pleasant citrus finish.
