About The Wine
Marty Singh is another young Yarra Valley winemaker making strides, and his Precipice Chardonnay from the great Willow Lake vineyard is absolutely superb.
Marty has extensive winemaking experience - most prominently as assistant winemaker at Oakridge - so naturally he knows his way around a Yarra Chardonnay, but with this wine he has really outdone himself.
All of his wines are gentle, precise and ethereal and this one is no exception - it has all the hallmarks of top-notch modern Aussie Chardonnay. Cool, flinty and refreshing on the one hand, fruit-forward and textural on the other.
About Precipice
Marty Singh is the man behind Precipice Wines.
Marty has been a fixture of the Oakridge cellar for longer than anyone can remember. Through his years observing the craft of Dave Bicknell and others at Oakridge, Marty has formed his own opinions on winemaking style. Precipice is his chance to put those ideas into practice.
He now sources small parcels of fruit from renowned Yarra Valley vineyards and turns out wonderfully pure and delicate wines.
With a new house, winery and vineyard underway in the Yarra, it won't be long before we see some home-grown wines from Marty. But in the meantime, his delicious offerings of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah from surrounding vineyards will have to suffice.
