About the Wine

Rotem and Mounir Saouma own 8.4ha of vineyards in Chateauneuf-du-Pape specifically for the production of red wines, with a focus on Grenache, which thrives in the Southern Rhone. They also acts as negociants in Burgundy, employing many of the same techniques in both regions, and winning heaps of praise for their wines.

Grapes for the Omnia come from five parcels within Chateauneuf-du-Pape, with the majority coming from Pignan, which Mounir believes is one of the most elegant sites in the region.

As one might expect, this is a complex and amazingly perfumed wine, with black, red and blue fruits in abundance, wonderful texture, and a flavour that just goes on forever. While it's drinking brilliantly now, it will cellar for 20 years.

About Clos Saouma

Mounir Saouma is one of the more interesting and perhaps controversial characters in modern French wine.

He is the owner of two domaines, along with his partner Rotem, cult negociant label Lucien Le Moine in Beaune where produces highly-sought-after Premier and Grand Cru Burgundies, and Clos Saouma where pursues his love for Chateauneuf-du-Pape with his own vineyards on some of the most prized terroir in the region. Unusual, to be sure, but the wines have massed a huge secondary market due to their imperial style and minuscule production.

From the Importer

Omnia, meaning ‘ALL’ is a blend albeit 80% Grenache with the rest made up with the other 12 varieties. It’s a blend of five villages from 7 different vineyards. Cold soaked for 7/11 days with a mixture of wholebunch and crushed grapes then allowed to warm up when ferment starts naturally. Strictly no pumping over of pigeage ‘Why do you want to chase colour, do you drink or taste it?’ as Mounier tells me. Free run and pressings separated and aged in Demi muid (500ltrs) new and aged, Foudre (2300 litres), cement natural eggs and cement tank. NO RACKING or sulphur of 2 years whilst aging.

Blend : Grenache (80%), plus other varieties
Closure : Cork
Drink Until : 2040
Bottle Size : 750ml

Wine Spectator

“A dreamy wine, with a plume of incense, mulled raspberry and red tea aromas curling up from the glass, followed by a very silky and refined feel to the mix of gently mulled red fruit, singed wood spice and floral notes. The perfume carries through the finish authoritatively, leaving fresh and dried fruit, sous-bois and mineral notes in its wake. A beautiful and distinctive wine. Best from 2023 through 2040” - James Molesworth (Wine Spectator)

“Vivid ruby color. A complex, deeply perfumed bouquet evokes ripe red and blue fruits, potpourri and smoky minerals, and an exotic Mediterranean spice quality builds as the wine opens up. Shows impressive depth as well as energy on the palate, offering deeply pitched black raspberry, boysenberry and lavender pastille flavors that slowly firm up and become spicier on the back half. Finishes sappy, gently tannic and extremely long, leaving suave spice and floral notes behind” – 93-96 Points – Josh Raynolds (Vinous)

Delivery times vary considerably with Australia Post and unfortunately there is no Express Delivery Option for wine (because it is fragile and heavy). PLEASE NOTE that we are currently seeing significant delays in the Australia Post delivery network. Strict government health and safety requirements and very high parcel volumes are causing significant backlogs at the main NSW and VIC sorting facilities. Orders are still arriving safe and sound but you may notice slower delivery times and less frequent scanning updates than usual.
