About The Wine
Michel Gonet hangs its premium hat on top end Chardonnay-based Champagnes, and while they have some prestige expensive releases, this Blanc de Blancs is exceptional value.
Fruit is sourced from their own vineyards in Mesnil sur Oger, Vindey & Montgueux, and there's just 5g of dosage added.
There's some yeasty texture and pillowy citrus fruit - there is such a good balance between freshness and maturity here.
Finishes bone-dry and satisfyingly clean. Highly recommended.
About Champagne Michel Gonet
The Gonet name can be found all over Champagne, with several houses and vignerons bearing the name. The original Gonet gangster though is Champagne Michel Gonet, based in the Cote des Blancs, started in the early 1800s.
Unusually for a largish producer, they only use fruit from their own vineyards, which total 40 hectares across the Cote des Blancs, Sezannai, Montgueux and the Aube.
Sophie Gonet and her brother Charles-Henri are the current generation of Gonets, with Antoine Gomérieux the young and talented winemaker.
