"This is seriously impressive young riesling, brilliant now but promising much for the future."
- Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

This wine always takes a while to wake up and will continue to come out of its shell in the coming year. It leads with crushed rock & chalky minerality. Following on the nose is citrus, fruit and florals. Layers of kafir lime, white nectarine & apple blossom. The palate is textured and complex with the minerality continuing on the palate which is a hallmark of this site. The fruit is layered and intense with nashi pear, white nectarine and grapefruit with soft acidity lending incredible length to finish. This wine is ready to drink however will benefit from more time in the bottle./p>

97 points - "Very light, bright yellow colour wth a haunting fresh fragrance of lemon-peel, lime juice and high-toned estery floral notes. The wine is tremendously intense and rich in the mouth, lifted in the core by a tickle of sweetness which niftily counteracts the quite high acidity. There is a firmness that stops just short of austerity. Long, long carry. This is seriously impressive young riesling, brilliant now but promising much for the future." - Huon Hooke (The Real Review)

97 points - "100% whole-bunch pressed fruit that spent six weeks on lees prior to racking, sulphur addition and blending. A luminous, bright green gold. Ravishing aromatics. Apricots, orange blossom, geranium, makrut lime leaves and more. Just as enticing on the dry, gently textured, energetic and very long palate. And while it's just so damn delicious now, history tells us that it's always worth putting what is one of Australia's greatest wines away for a few years." - Philip Rich (Halliday Wine Companion)

93 Points - "From 1970s planted vines. The legacy continues. This is curious in its mark. It’s washy and somewhat loose knit, imbued with some lanolin, honeycomb and truffle characters amongst more expected and tightly wound lemon, lime, green apple and cumquat piquancy. Licks and whiffs of white balsamic lift things nicely, a touch of quince, some ginger and waxy honeycomb appear too. It feels more gourmand or gustatory than the line, length and precision usually expected from young Crawford River riesling, but in that a good reflection of the tricky growing season, perhaps. It’s wider gauge and more wide-ranging fruit and savoury elements draw you in. Perhaps best not drunk piping cold to feel the wine relax. Curious and cool." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

An excellent wine from a very consistent producer

A wonderful quite complex riesling - dry, a nice combination of minerality and citrus. Flavor excellent on first taste and prolonged. Looking forward to trying other bottles with time.

    Excellent Australian Riesling

This is a uniquely rich, yet totally dry Australian riesling that still maintains the acidity so essential to this wine's affinity for virtually any food pairing.

Crawford River

Crawford River is very much a family operation. The talented Thomson clan have been producing wine from their beautiful home vineyard since 1985.

The Bordeaux varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc thrive on the estate, but it's Riesling that they are most famous for.

They produce a range of styles of varying ages that are outstanding. Many consider them as one of the country's premier producers of the noble variety.

These are wines of purity and elegance. Small-batch, family-owned, traditional winemaking and good, honest farming is at the core of everything Crawford River does.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
