Description

Josh Cooper is taking some of regional Victoria's best sustainable and organic/biodynamic vineyards and putting them on show.

This, the Doug's Vineyard Pinot Noir, is a beautiful depiction of the finesse and detail that gentle winemaking can create given the right fruit. A small vineyard in the Macedon Ranges, vines only 20 or so years old and producing phenomenal fruit, a young winemaker at the top of his game.

This is a powerful, opulent Pinot with stunning floral aromatics - it deserves contemplation and your finest stemware.

There wasn't much made and it won't be available for long.

"It’s beautiful, really, and the gist is that it delivers grape character from all angles. I want to drink the hell out of this."
- 96 pts, Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

Pale ruby. Classical and very typical of Doug’s Vineyard, a very elegant and ethereal release. Fragrant and subtle with raspberry, and red cherry fruits complexed by sous bois and the typical exotic spice of Doug’s Vineyard. Structured by silky tannin and fresh acidity and offering great charm in its youthful vigour, medium term aging or decanting will greatly reward.

Region: Macedon Ranges, VIC
Blend: Pinot Noir (100%)
ABV: 13.00%

96 points - "Strange, but I went straight to the wines of Marechal in Burgundy. Something about the expansive but light nature of the wine, the relaxed feel to texture, the little haze of tannins, loads of perfume both primary fruited and herbal. It’s got sinew and pucker, a strong sense of savouriness, a sizzle of cooling acidity and a great stretch of flavour and texture. It’s beautiful, really, and the gist is that it delivers grape character from all angles. I want to drink the hell out of this." - Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)

    Delicious Pinot

Pale colour but don’t be deceived. Lovely floral nose, very pretty taste with decent amount of acid structure and good length, reminded me of a Chambolle. Well done!

Joshua Cooper

Joshua Cooper is the son of Nelly and Allan Cooper, the founders of the acclaimed Cobaw Ridge winery in the Macedon Ranges.

Born and raised on the top-tier cool climate wines of his family, Josh's wines have a delicacy and unforced feel to them. As you might imagine, growing up in the Macedon Ranges, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are two varieties he particularly excels with, as too is his great love, which is Cabernet. He sources his fruit from a series of growers across central Victoria who farm with a like-minded philosophy of organic farming and sustainability, with plans to plant his own vineyard in Macedon in the future.

Josh makes only a small amount of each wine and they are in high demand from those who want to get in early on the next generation of Cooper. He is undoubtedly one of the country's most exciting and acclaimed young winemakers, being named James Halliday's Best New Winery for 2024 as well as the winner of Gourmet Traveller Wine magazine’s Young Winemaker of the Year 2020.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
