Description

If you have never tried the Billy Button wines, this is a great introduction to what Jo Marsh is all about: Alpine Valley fruit, masterfully handled, delivered with incredible value.

Over the last few years this has garnered a reputation as one of the most drinkable Barberas in the country. The key here is balance. Where other Aussie Barbera can be a little wishy-washy, this hits the nail on the head. Jo says, "It is now one of my most popular wines and one of my most consistent" and it rightfully has been the fastest of her range to sell out each year.

Don't miss out on this charismatic little red from one of the Alpine Valleys' finest.

95 points
"A lipsmacking, purple-hued, spice-filled, soft-hearted young red that rocks. The expressive, energetic joy of the barbera grape is laid bare... So much to see, smell and enjoy."
- Jeni Port (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 points
"Geez, I could not think of a more appropriate nickname for Barbera. It’s that super-friendly kid from the block who always offers you some delicious blood plums, mouth-watering, sweet black cherries, and raspberries."
- Lisa Cardelli (Wine Pilot)

Savoury characters interlaced with subtle earthiness. Refined in its structure, this wine delivers notes of raspberry and dried herbs that are pulled together tightly with bright acidity. Juicy and delicious.

Jo has always liked the juicy vibrant style of Barbera from the Piedmont region in Northern Italy. So, in 2014 when Tony Ferraro suggested “would you like to take a look at my Barbera?” Jo jumped at the chance. Since then Barbera has become one of the most popular wines in the Billy Button line-up.

95 Points - "A lipsmacking, purple-hued, spice-filled, soft-hearted young red that rocks. The expressive, energetic joy of the barbera grape is laid bare. Licorice, dried herbs, vanilla and plum with a splash of sour cherry tartness show the grape at its youthful best. So much to see, smell and enjoy." - Jeni Port (Halliday Wine Companion)

95 points - "Geez, I could not think of a more appropriate nickname for Barbera. It’s that super friendly kid from the block who always offers you some delicious blood plums, mouth-watering, sweet black cherries, and raspberries. All while sharing those with you, he shovels everything in his mouth and laughs with gusto. Honestly, who doesn’t want to have a friend like that? Drink now – 2027." - Lisa Cardelli (Wine Pilot)

Barbera - my new favourite grape

This wine was fresh, bouyant and really, really good. I will be on the lookout for more Barbera if they’re always this good.

Billy Button

Billy Button is the charming Alpine Valleys based project of ubertalented winemaker Jo Marsh, now helped by her winemaker husband Glenn James and young winemaker Alex Phillips.

Billy Button focuses primarily on producing small batches of alternative varieties from good local growers in their small patch of Victoria. The team explores varieties that are rarely seen in the Australian landscape - you can find anything from Schioppettino to Verduzzo in this eclectic range.

Jo's gentle touch in the winery makes for beautifully balanced wines that show great texture and vibrancy. The Billy Button range is a little gem of North East Victoria. It's one of the more unique wine ranges in the country and the perfect place to begin your exploration of alternative varieties.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
