Description

The Ravensworth Shiraz Viognier has become one of the most sought-after wines in Canberra, owner/winemaker Bryan Martin now consistently producing a wine of glorious complexity from his homegrown fruit.

Bryan's Shiraz is Northern Rhone Valley inspired, with a splash of co-fermented Viognier adding perfume and mouthfeel to what is a remarkable Shiraz. Given Bryan Martin's previous day job as assistant winemaker at Clonakilla where he, alongside Tim Kirk, produced Australia's foremost Shiraz Viognier, it comes as no surprise to see his own wine reach such great heights.

The 2021 looks sensational once again. There was no 2020 vintage produced due to bushfires, so this 2021 version has been keenly anticipated and it does not disappoint. If you fancy cool climate Shiraz then this is simply a must for your cellar and/or dinner table. Exceptional.

It’s back and looking amazing. From the first of a trio of cooler years we see more spice and savoury notes. Two years in production with the second in large seasoned French oak foudre.

Red fruit, ripe and rich in the mix, floral lift, meadow herbs and fennel with gentle cinnamon spice notes – wonderful characters for scents and flavours.     Review Ravensworth Shiraz Viognier

    Absolutely delicious! Wish I could drink it every day… but is a perfect wine for a slow cooked lamb or beef dish. I’m cellaring one bottle for as long as I can. Keen to try more from this vineyard.

    Blue fruits and lovely classic cool climate peppery spice. Nice hit of balanced acidity with long smooth tannin's. the Viognier adds perfume along with some fleshy mouth fill.

Ravensworth

Bryan Martin is one of the most creative and inquisitive winemakers we've ever met. After leaving his position as winemaker alongside Tim Kirk at Canberra regional flagbearer, Clonakilla, Bryan went full steam in on his own label Ravensworth, which has firmly hit cult status amongst collectors.

He and his wife Jocelyn have a beautiful property outside of Murrumbateman which is home to all of their excellent Estate wines and Bryan also searches surrounding vineyards and out to the Hilltops region to compile his excellent value Regional series of wines. Sustainability and an unwavering commitment to quality across the board underpin the entire operation at Ravensworth. Perhaps best known for his benchmark Shiraz Viognier and textural Rieslings, Bryan is also arguably the country's best producer of Sangiovese and is a true master of the dark art of skin-contact whites.

Bryan embodies everything we love about small artisanal Australian producers. He is humble, irreverent, committed to the pursuit of excellence and always looking to explore. Quite simply, if you see a Ravensworth wine anywhere, you should buy it.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.
