Description

The organically grown Isolation Ridge vineyard is considered the jewel in the crown for this leading producer of Frankland River.

The Shiraz it produces is a pure, soft style that speaks beautifully of its home. Cool climate Shiraz, with all the spice and floral top notes you could possibly ask for.

It's graceful, unforced and brimming with fresh pepper and herbs, and dark, violet fruit flavours. Wonderfully elegant yet concentrated. Cracking stuff for sure.

An elegant medium bodied wine with a sweet core of fruit combined with subtle savoury complexity of spice and herb that integrate into the subtle French oak which sits comfortably with the savoury notes and fine-grained tannins. Length and depth of fruit profile in the wine will ensure very good aging.
This wine was fermented in shallow open pot fermenters. Whole berries are going to open fermenter. Fermentation is initiated straight away, hand plunging is conducted to keep the ferment even and as gentle as possible, minimising extraction. A small parcel is fermented as 100% whole bunch and blended back to the wine post barrel maturation (7%). Temperatures typically do not exceed 26C through the 10 – 15 day ferment. Some additional maturation on skins occurs until tannin integration and balance is seen. This wine was aged for 15 months in 3,500 litre French oak foudre. The small addition of viognier along with the use of 2 clones of Syrah add to the wine’s complexity

95 Points - "Frankland Estate’s red wines have upped the ante in recent years. This is another beautiful example. It’s blessed with abundant spice and roasted nut characters, shows immense finesse in both its flow of fruit and spread of tannin, and is persistent and then some. Florals, mid-weight red berry flavours, twiggy spice and undergrowth characters. It’s wildly expressive and yet it feels effortless. I tasted this wine in the office; my car was parked nearly two kilometres away; I carried the half-finished bottle through the streets, such was my desire to carry on with it." - Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)

97 Points - "This wonderful wine marks the continuing evolution of Syrah from Frankland Estate. It was a very good year with the cool ripening period allowing for excellent flavour build up. This is 94% Syrah, 4% Viognier and 2% Mourvèdre. Each plays an important role in the final blend. The use of the 470 clone has brought a degree of perfume and elegance to the final wine that is quite beautiful. It’s spicy with a little regional ironstone and black pepper. Smoothly integrated and silky, the oak is deliberately muted with the use of 3500-litre foudres an important part. Outstanding wine." - Ray Jordan (Wine Pilot)

96 Points - "Yes, Frankland Estate enjoys its prestige as head of the riesling kingdom, but the reds are on a revolutionary path. Will they take the crown? A sneaky 4/2% viognier/ mourvèdre added to this excellent, spicy, smoky, juicy, peppery wine. Plush fruit with all the best syrah attributes rising up, including beautiful, savoury and silky tannins." - Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion)

Frankland Estate

Frankland Estate are one of the leading producers in the Frankland River region of WA. Family owned and operated since 1988, their major focus is on certified organically grown fruit that reflects its terroir rather than the hand of the winemaker.

Their cool climate Rieslings are regarded as some of the best in the region and the country with several single vineyard releases that could be a contender for Australia's Best Riesling.

Frankland Estate is cutting a mean wave through the industry and picking up a lot of recognition in the process.

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
