Description

Peter Graham's Nebbiolo is a labour of love. He crafts it in a traditional way.

The fruit is gently handled from picking to the long, slow ferment. His two large traditional botte, his pride and joy, are filled by gravity. The juice is left to sleep for a few years before release. It's a long process to get the wine to bottle but it's worth the wait.

This is yet another brilliant release. For enthusiasts of the variety, it's a must-have.

It's become one of the most sought-after Nebbiolos in the country year after year. Do yourself a favour and get some in the cellar while you still can.

"Cherry, liquorice/dried mint, baking spice, dried roses, almond and charcuterie... A stony and dry, slightly peppery, finish of excellent length. So good."
- Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

"This may be the finest Australian nebbiolo yet tasted... I could drink a great deal of this such is the structural compression and rivulet of pure, sumptuous fruit. Exquisite! Drink or hold."
- Ned Goodwin MW (JamesSuckling.com)

Domenica holds the oldest Nebbiolo vines in Beechworth, producing a classic and age worthy wine. The single acre of Nebbiolo is grown in a cool, protected pocket on the southern corner of the property. Tiny yields per vine develop the intensity of fruit required to make Nebbiolo with beautiful structure, and a deep complex core of fruit. The Wine Front has described Domenica’s as “the best Nebbiolo in Australia” and is a top rated wine in the Halliday Wine Companion.

95 points - "Side by side, tasting Nebbiolo from two doyens of the grape variety in Australia. Pannell and Graham. Very good. Protero and Domenica, different but equally good expressions of this great grape. Closed with a DIAM now, rather than screwcap. Interesting. So often with DIAM, the cork won’t fit back into the bottle, so I stuffed a PdB cork into it to do the job. Also, as someone who drinks a shit tonne (should that be one word?) of Nebbiolo, these wines are not being given a handicap for being Australian. They’re simply great, but different, expressions of Neb.

Cherry, liquorice/dried mint, baking spice, dried roses, almond and charcuterie. It’s juicy, cherry, ripe strawberry and amaro herbs, supple dusty tannin and layers of sweet spice, juicy ripe orange acidity, and a stony and dry, slightly peppery, finish of excellent length. So good." - Gary Walsh (The Wine Front)

95 points - "This may be the finest Australian nebbiolo yet tasted. A bright mid-crimson, shifting to a detailed spread of vigorous red fruit accents, hints of ironstone, dried thyme and lilac. Gorgeous stuff. Mid-weighted of feel such is the pixelated detail, levity and brightness in the mouth. A testament to the oft-used notion that nebbiolo bares considerable similarities to pinot noir. I could drink a great deal of this such is the structural compression and rivulet of pure, sumptuous fruit. Exquisite! Drink or hold." - Ned Goodwin MW (JamesSuckling.com)

95 points - "Medium to deep cherry red colour. Dark cherry, blue gravel and crushed rose petal aromas lift out from the glass. Dark fruits on entry, and the palate builds weight and intensity as it rolls along. Dark minerality, anise spices and woody herbal notes all add layers of complexity and character. Tannins are prodigious as the variety demands, but stay within context of the other elements, driving and drying the finish well. Demands food and I wouldn’t argue: those tannins deserve a deep protein to make them work" - Stuart Knox (The Real Review)

    beautiful tannins

One of my favourite Nebbiolo. Medium bodied, complex, and beautiful tannins that just add structure that I don't find in many other Nebbiolo.

Domenica

Peter Graham is one of Beechworth's most thoughtful and talented winemakers. From his small plot of land on the Beechworth "Golden Mile", Pete crafts articulate and powerful wines with a gentle hand.

He farms his vineyard organically, though uncertified, with great care. The quality of fruit it yields is first class. In the winery, everything is moved via gravity. Patience is a virtue that Pete definitely possesses. No wine is released until it's 'ready'.

The Nebbiolo is one of the country's benchmarks. The Chardonnay is always in high demand given Pete's history as assistant winemaker at Giaconda. The Shiraz is the very model of modern Australian Shiraz; a wine with both power and refinement.

As Mike Bennie once noted:"If you’re into the new wave of truefine wine producers of Australia you should be onto, should get onto, Domenica. Classics in the making. Rising high."

Ordering

We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
  • The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
  • We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
  • We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
  • It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
  • It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.

We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.

At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!

No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.

We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.

To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.

If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.

If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
