John Ellis planted his vineyard in 1998 with a view to bring the philosophy of Burgundian winemaking to Gippsland. He makes wine with a traditional mindset, with close planted Pinot Noir and Chardonnay the core of his vineyard. “I’m a firm believer that the vineyard creates the wine. There are no fancy tricks in the winery,” says John. These are classically styled wines that over deliver for the price.
