2019 Sorrenberg Chardonnay
If you are an avid collector of Beechworth's finest Chardonnays then this benchmark wine from Barry and Jan Morey of Sorrenberg needs a place in your cellar.
The cooler site that the Sorrenberg vineyard occupies produces Chardonnay of immense flavour and impact. Winemaker Barry Morey gently builds layers of power and complexity through 100% barrel fermentation in an astute mixture of new and used oak.
A great site, expert farming and sensitive winemaking converging. This is a striking, characterful Chardonnay from a gem of a producer.

2018 Vignerons Schmölzer & Brown Brunnen Chardonnay
If you are going to make Beechworth Chardonnay, it is fair to say the bar has been set high.
Names like Giaconda, Savaterre and Sorrenberg have set the standard for the region and they are some big shoes to fill. Tessa Brown and Jeremy Schmolzer are making a very good fist of it.
Their Brunnen Chardonnay comes from the vineyard directly across the road from their own block of fledgeling vines way up in the high country behind Beechworth. It is a beautiful site - cool, high and isolated.
The fruit is treated delicately; predominantly older oak, all natural ferments, malo only happens if it wants too. Nothing about this wine feels forced, it feels like it was nurtured into being. If this is the next generation of Beechworth Chardonnay, there's a bright future ahead for the region.Read more about 2018 Vignerons Schmölzer & Brown Brunnen Chardonnay
2018 Hoddles Creek Road Block Chardonnay

Their prowess with the variety is well known, rarely does Franco D'Anna miss with this variety. When he says this deserved its own bottling, you bet your boots there is a reason for it.
The kind of wine that will reward the patient. 98 points from James Halliday and another top release from Franco & co.Read more about 2018 Hoddles Creek Road Block Chardonnay
2019 Mac Forbes Villages Gladysdale Chardonnay
The Village series of wines from Mac Forbes aims to showcase the sub-regional differences and diversity of the Yarra Valley.
Gladysdale sits at the southern end of the valley, heading in the direction of Gippsland. This warmer pocket of the region produces a Chardonnay with a little more flesh up front and a more generous fruit weight in the context of the Mac Forbes range.
Compared to others in the region, this still sits in the finer end of the Chardonnay spectrum but for a Mac Forbes wine, it's golden, ripe and and flush with delicious primary fruit.Read more about 2019 Mac Forbes Villages Gladysdale Chardonnay
2018 Eldridge Wendy Chardonnay
The iconic Eldridge Estate, spearheaded by David Lloyd, is one of the jewels in the crown of Mornington Peninsula.
Every berry that goes into this glorious Chardonnay is picked from their home estate. It's the very best Chardonnay produced from each season, the best of the best fruit crafted into a cuvee in honour of the late Wendy Lloyd. The fruit is treated with the utmost respect; pressed gently, fermented in the best French oak with a small amount of solids.
There's great intensity here. It's a Chardonnay with explosive power derived from the rich Mornington soil. It makes a statement about its home and its maker. It's a great thing to drink.Read more about 2018 Eldridge Wendy Chardonnay
2019 Dexter Chardonnay
When making wine exclusively from your own vineyard you only get to play one hand each year.
In 2019, Tod and Debbie Dexter were dealt a Royal Flush. The Chardonnay slowly ticked along to perfect ripeness, the wine sings of a year when everything just went right.
His is a Chardonnay for an occasion, a Chardonnay to be shared with other lovers of the variety, a Chardonnay to be cracked when converting shouters of the ABC (Anything But Chardonnay) war cry.
