2023 Agricola Flaxman Valley Shiraz
The home wine of sorts for Callum, the Flaxman Shiraz is sourced from two vineyards: his family's old-vine home block which is over 100 years-old, and their neighbours stunning steep hillside vineyard next door.
Having an intimate, lifetime of knowledge of these two vineyards is clearly evident in the deftness of this wine. So light on its feet, and a truly unique expression of Eden Valley Shiraz. Really though, this is more Syrah than Shiraz, in the Australian understanding of the stylistic differences. Black pepper, olive tapenade, with a salinity, all dancing on top of cool black fruits.
Far out, this wine is just so damn sexy, everything about it screams drink me, drink me now. So sexy it hurts.

"The standout feature here is an unnerving sense of purity. Overall, so fresh, so fine, vibrant fruit, a swish of ultra-fine and quality, feathery tannins, red fruits, cinnamon toast spiciness, dark amaro characters, dried rose petals, faint game meat and chai tea – what the?!. Exotic, unbelievably complex, superb drinkability, vitality, length, intensity and levity. It’s so good. So so good. Any prestige wine anywhere will have to put up its dukes... It meets you with full eye contact and a firm handshake. It’s wildly delicious. Far out."

NV Sami-Odi Little Wine #12
The Sami-Odi 'Little Wine' has developed quite the cult following over the years.
It's a unique wine, being comprised of fruit from multiple vintages, with the older vintage portions adding depth and weight, the younger contributing lift and fruit vibrancy. Some parcels are picked early for acidity and drive, some picked much later providing that definitive Barossa richness.
It's an intricately constructed wine, winemaker Fraser McKinley blending multiple barrels to find just the right amount of light and shade.
The finished wine shows so much perfume, so much flavour and so much life - it's a beauty and a completely unique look at the Barossa Valley. The 'Little Wine' has become one of those innovative Australian wines you just need in your cellar.

"On the nose, it leads with sweet Champion Ruby tobacco, Madagascan peppercorns, Boscobel rose, crushed rocks and salted licorice. The 2022 component is higher in alcohol than previous, which is an interesting outcome given the mildness of the 2022 season. Fraser and I discussed this at length, which I will detail in the 2022 Hoffmann Dallwitz note. Suffice to say, 2022 was a late vintage... This is a capacious, midnight-spectrum wine. Long and undulating. Very good indeed."

2023 Bulman Glen’s Vineyard Grenache Dry Red Wine
Winemaker Mark Bulman made his mark through his outstanding work at Turkey Flat, and being the first winemaker to win the coveted Jimmy Watson award with a varietal Grenache. Now with Bulman wines, he is seeking to stamp his own individual imprint on the Australian wine scene. The debut wines are coming out all guns blazing.
The Glen’s Vineyard Grenache is a distinguished wine from the historic Stonegarden Vineyard in Eden Valley. Established in 1857, this vineyard features thin loam over red-brown clay and sandstone with gold-bearing quartz veins, at an altitude of 390 meters. These ancient vines and deeply historic terroir are both captured beautifully in this wonderful filigree expression of Grenache.
The 2023 vintage was hand-picked on April 1, 2023 (no April Fools here!), with 12% whole bunches included. The winemaking process involved 28 days on skins, followed by 178 days in a sandstone amphora. It's lighter and more red-fruited than its McLaren Vale counterpart but no less impressive.
Glen Monaghan, who grew the Grenache, and Mark Bulman for meticulous winemaking, should both take a bow. They have created a wine that is both a testament to its heritage. It's remarkable to see such an energetic modern wine from vines planted over a hundred and fifty years ago. Kudos to all involved.
We can't wait to see what's next from Mark's solo exploits...

"This wine sets sail for eden, as a concept, and then returns to Eden, as its home. It throws characters of stone, concrete, redcurrant, blood orange, mint, rust, seaweed and assorted other shopping list items, but it’s the flamboyance of its scent, the long raking farmland of tannin, and the collection of blood-splattered stones that really set it in its place. Yes, I think it’s good.I also think it’s a steal."

"Wild cherry, redcurrant, dusty white peppercorns, tamarind, orange peel, bitter herbs and a rugged mineral line rendered refined, evoking graphite, iron and struck rock, the drive of calmly resolute tannin sheathed elegantly with silky fruit, giving this an effortless feel, an engaging ease. That takes nothing away from the seriousness, though. It’s pinnacle Barossa grenache."

2022 Spinifex Sol Solice Grenache
The Sol Solice Grenache is a new release from Spinifex and is crafted from a blend of the finest parcels of Grenache from across the entire vintage.
The fruit comes from two vineyards, the Rostein Vineyard in the Eden Valley, and an old, low-yielding Grenache block in the heart of the Barossa Valley where the vines are 60 years old.
Aromas of ripe, juicy red, purple and blue fruits, a sprinkling of spice, fine and structured tannins. Quality from first to last sip, and an absolutely gorgeous wine to sip and savour.

2022 Setiono Flaxman Syrah
The very thoughtful and considered ethos of Samantha Chandra is behind this lovely Syrah from Flaxman Valley in the Barossa region.
Made with fruit entirely from the Naimanya Vineyard with 30+ year old Shiraz vines, it sits at 525 metres above sea level and is thought to be the highest Shiraz site in South Australia!
Two different picks were done, one earlier to get grapes with bright natural acidity and then a later pick for depth of flavour, complexity and tannin.
Aged entirely in older oak, bottled without fining or filtration, the whole package comes together into a beautifully integrated, flavourful Syrah with minimal additions. Elegant stuff, and a great addition the Barossa/Eden Valley wine scene.
Only 143 dozen produced.

"Outstanding, Deep and dark, brooding and yet holding this vivid sense of freshness, blue fruits, pretty spice, herbal lift and saline mineral charm. It elevates on each sip, feeling finer, friskier, lither, as you spend time with the wine... Finesse personified. It nails the brief. It feels of fruit and the depth possible from gentle handling. It’s wine I want to drink."

2021 Standish Wine Co The Lamella Shiraz
This is Eden Valley Shiraz in full flight.
Grown by the Angas family on Hutton Vale Farm, a place their family has tended now for generations, Dan Standish has taken their fruit to a new stratosphere.
The Lamella is a transcendent Shiraz. An imperious wine of incredible density and purity, a feeling of elegance maintained through careful and sensitive winemaking. If you have never had your mind blown by an Eden Valley Shiraz, this may be the wine to do it.
A wine that could stand toe-to-toe with any of the most iconic names in Australian Shiraz, this is about as good as Shiraz gets from this part of the world.

"The wine is a cohesive whole and shows an elegance and presence that is beguiling, to say the least. If anything, the 2021 Lamella is full of aching potential; its future is writ upon the balance of fruit and skin/stalk tannin, freshness and density. For lovers of this cuvée, I cannot recall seeing it so balanced and poised on release... The cool vintage that birthed the Lamella this year has produced a wine of definition and untold potential. Super."

"Blackberry liqueur, praline and chocolate, sage and mint, dark XMAS cake, dried flowers and chamomile. It’s full-bodied, all the rich dark cherry and blackberry, chocolate sauce, so much ripe dark succulent fruit, with deep submerged dark chocolate tannin, and maybe a little warmth through it, but gee, so much flavour and power."

Ordering
We want Different Drop customers to always be getting the best price. If you see a lower price elsewhere, just get in touch and we will sort it out for you. We handle all our price-matching on a case by case basis.
Some things to keep in mind:
- Retrospective price-matching is available for 30 days after you have purchased from us.
- The price match cannot be used in conjunction with a coupon or one-off deal we are offering. The idea is for you to get the best price in the market so if that is already achieved through a coupon then we won't price match on top of that.
- We don't price match clearance or fire sales.
- We’ll match the listed price as long as it is a legitimate offer and the competing store is actually able to fulfil the order (they have stock or more stock is en route). Essentially we won't price match cheeky vendors listing wines they have no hope of actually getting for you...
- It must be a publicly listed price. We won't match a price that has been achieved through a coupon/cash-back arrangement, or through a non-advertised offer over the phone or otherwise.
- It is limited to a reasonable retail quantity.
We'll treat each price match request on its merit and reserve the right to refuse where we deem fit. For example, particularly rare wines, from non-trust-worthy vendors, in circumstances we deem illegitimate or if we feel our policy is being unfairly taken advantage of.
At the end of the day, we'll look after you and use common sense to ensure you're getting the best price, please just don't take the p%$$!
No, feel free to mix it up! There is no minimum requirement. You can order wines in any quantity or combination, 1 or 50+ bottles.
We stock three different sized gift boxes (single, three bottle and six), all are available for purchase for a flat rate of $8. They look great and make an awesome impression.
To add a gift box to your order, simply add at checkout. The special requests box is your friend, please give us as many details of what you are looking for and we will try our best, or get in contact to discuss it with you.
If you want to bulk order gifts or if you have any trouble please email hello@differentdrop.com or call and we can try and help.
If you can't add more wine to your cart it means we are low on stock of that wine. For example, if you are only able to 3 bottles and no more that means we only have 3 bottles left of that wine. If it's a must have, please contact us and we may be able to order more in for you.
