2020 Vino Volta So Well Then Fiano
Here's a great new look at Fiano from Garth and Kirsten at Vino Volta.
Breaking the mold of Swan Valley wine are these two. This refreshing yet textural white wine is just the latest in their string of successes.
The great thing about this variety is that it holds its acid brilliantly, even in a warm dry climate like the Swan Valley. Garth and Kirsten have hit this release right on the head.
Think pears, some citrus and a little stonefruit with gentle waxy texture and a refreshing finish with plenty of drive.
It's a lovely example of the variety.Read more about 2020 Vino Volta So Well Then Fiano

2019 Combes What's Beneath Chardonnay
"Just straight up banger chardonnay of complexity, freshness and interest."
- Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
Here's an electric Chardonnay from a rising star of the Yarra Valley.
Winemaker Oscar Hermann sees the Cordillera Vineyard in the Upper Yarra as one of the great places to grow Chardonnay in the region, where flint and mineral characters are derived from the red and grey volcanic clay soils.
There is a beautiful shape to this wine. It's fine but full flavoured, supremely detailed in it's white peach through the savoury/saline falvour profile.
It's got length, drive, focus - all the beautiful things about Chardonnay grown in a cool climate.Read more about 2019 Combes What's Beneath Chardonnay
2019 Michael Hall Sauvignon Blanc
"A delicious, mouthfilling sauvignon blanc of rare quality."
- James Halliday (Halliday Wine Companion)
Michael Hall has absolutely nailed this release of his highly respected Sauvignon Blanc.
A cunning combination of oak maturation and skin contact elevates this wine above the pack. The purity of fruit from the 2019 season is stunning. When tricked up with a little spicy oak and some chalky texture from the time on skins, the fruit really sings.
With a huge 96 points from James Halliday this is one of the best examples of 'serious' Sauvignon Blanc in the country this year.Read more about 2019 Michael Hall Sauvignon Blanc
2020 Garagiste Le Stagiaire Pinot Gris
Barney Flanders takes his Pinot Gris seriously.
This is closer to Burgundy or Alsace than Northern Italy, with time in barrel and on lees resulting in a really textural wine.
A great modern example of Australian Gris here from one of Mornington's gem producers.Read more about 2020 Garagiste Le Stagiaire Pinot Gris
