About The Wine
A charming and classy Champagne from Aurelien Gerbais, made from 50% Pinot Noir, with 25% Pinot Blanc and 25% Chardonnay. It's the perfect representation of their house style, as includes their rare speciality - Pinot Blanc.
There's great old-vine concentration to the fruit, which is grown organically (certified since 1996), but we like the delicacy at play here. It's vinous and succulent, reflecting its warmer southerly location but it leaves a light but lingering impression.
As good a value NV artisan Champagne as you will find.
About Pierre Gerbais
The Gerbais family has farmed their patch of the deep south of Champagne, Celles-sur-Ource in the Cote-des-Bar, since 1930.
An organic operation since 1996, this family Domaine is notable for their use of Pinot Blanc in their Champagne cuveés. The addition of this variety brings a floral aspect to the wines and brings a freshness to the acidity.
Aurélien Gerbais, 8th generation grower and 4th generation winemaker runs the show, releasing fine elegant wines, delivered in a delicate frame.
