About the Wine
A vineyard with Chardonnay vines over 50 years old is the source for the NV Pierre Gerbais Champ Viole Lieu Dit Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut, an attractive wine from the first sniff, with aromas of citrus peel and spice intermixed with brioche and apple.
Bracing acidity is the name of the game with this wine, giving the wine an energetic feel in the mouth, alongside. Minerality imbues the champagne with energy, thanks to the soils which are closer to those of Chablis and Sancerre than the rest of Champagne. The acidity, minerality and salinity will cut through many fatty, salty foods, or simply enjoy it on its own.About Pierre Gerbais
The Gerbais family has farmed their patch of the deep south of Champagne, Celles-sur-Ource in the Cote-des-Bar, since 1930.
An organic operation since 1996, this family Domaine is notable for their use of Pinot Blanc in their Champagne cuveés. The addition of this variety brings a floral aspect to the wines and brings a freshness to the acidity.
Aurélien Gerbais, 8th generation grower and 4th generation winemaker runs the show, releasing fine elegant wines, delivered in a delicate frame.
