This is a brilliant Champagne.

About The Wine
Anselme Selosse is one of the most revolutionary figures in the world of wine today.
The ultimate iconoclast, Anselme took the concepts and traditions that made the best wines of Burgundy and the Rhone Valley so iconic - that it takes great fruit to make transcendent wines, and expression of terroir is paramount - and brought those ideas to his family's vineyards in Champagne.
His cuveés are now hunted like the rarest of birds across the planet.
This is his most iconic cuveé and his purest expression of terroir. The Substance is a non-vintage blend of his Grand Cru holdings in Avize. By combining over twenty vintages in his solera, Anselme has managed to perfectly capture the voice of this place and everything it has yielded over the last two decades or more.
About Domaine Jacques Selosse
Selosse is a name mentioned in mythical, shadowy terms, the unicorn wines of Champagne, that really don't have much in common with commercial or even prestige Champagne at all.
Anselme took over the estate from his father Jacques in 1980, and pretty much turned the Champagne world on its head, focussing on individual terroirs and vineyards, some oxidative winemaking, extended aging, lower dosage, lower SO2....Everything that hardly anyone else was doing.
He officially retired in 2018, with talented son Guillaume now running the show.
