About The Wine
Toasty, creamy and deeply satisfying artisan Champagne for lovers of the slightly richer rather than the uber-crunchy style.
Gatinois, who've been at it since the 17th century, know a thing or two by now, and this, their main estate wine, comes from all their own extensive Grand Cru holdings in and around the village of Ay.
It's got a 80/20 Pinot Noir to Chardonnay breakdown, and you really see the deep red fruit notes and vinous, winey feel from the Pinot component.
The finish is long and strong - this is a Champagne for the dinner table as much as a welcome drink.
About Champagne Gatinois
Champagne Gatinois is an historic domaine based in the lovely village of Ay (also home to a certain Bollinger operation). They've been going since 1696!
A noted Récoltant-Manipulant (grower producer) they make wine from all their own fruit, which totals about 7 hectares, mostly planted to Pinot Noir. Their Champagnes are the strong, silent type, often with great structure and ageworthiness.
Louis Cheval took over the winemaking at the domain in 2010.
