About The Wine
Jared Dixon has been working with this vineyard for a couple of years now.
In 2019, Jared picked and made a wine from this block, it was a field blend of three red grapes: Shiraz, Merlot & Cabernet. The wine turned out quite dry and tannic, not really in the 'smashable' style that Jared's wines have become known for. He decided to sit on the wine and wait for the next vintage.
In 2020, he picked the same grapes again, but way earlier. He pressed them super early and blended the two wines. This frisky little multi-vintage springtime smasher is the result.
Classic Jared Dixon, thinking outside the box, not being bound by convention. It's great stuff.
About Jilly Wines
Jared Dixon is a lone ranger on his own mission in the New England wine region.
His wines are made from interesting varieties grown on unique vineyards, sites he classes as ‘undiscovered gems.’ His winemaking is extremely hands-off, allowing the full expression of the fruit to be the focus of every wine. They are fun, don't take themselves too seriously and have a distinct energy about them.
Jared is one of Northern NSW's most exciting and impassioned young winemakers. Where he takes his idiosyncratic label from here is anyone's guess.
