About The Pack
Gary Mills has received wide acclaim for his wildly expressive examples of single vineyard Syrahs from across Victoria.
When Gary makes Syrah, it's stalks and all.
Each wine has a very high component of whole bunch which he thinks builds architecture and mouthfeel into each wine and more truly expresses the vineyard.
No additions through the winemaking process, a gentle touch in the winery guiding the fruit from these great sites to bottle.
His 2016 releases are beautifully on song. This is your chance to try these small batch beauties before they sell out.
2016 Jamsheed Seville Syrah
The 2016 Jamsheed Seville Syrah is a beauty.
The vineyard is at the Southern end of the Yarra Valley and sits atop grey loam soils streaked with volcanic clay. It is cooler in the south than the upper Yarra allowing for more of the spice and perfume characters to ring out of the glass. It's gorgeous.
The essence of power and elegance combined, this is a real treat and a fine example of what the Yarra has to offer in Australia's seemingly endless cannon of Syrah/Shiraz expressions.

The Jamsheed Garden Gully Syrah comes from one of the oldest Shiraz vineyards in Victoria.
The Garden Gully Vineyard was planted in the 1890's with cuttings from the Best's Old Clone Shiraz on the same famous Concongella soils that Best's occupies.
The 2016 vintage was made with 100% whole bunches, natural winemaking bringing to bottle a beautiful wine here from Gary Mills. This is a more medium-bodied and tempered style of Garden Gully Syrah, but one that is ripped in chiseled tannin.
A different expression of the region but one that is simply delicious to drink.

Gary Mills' Pyren Syrah is one of his most sought-after wines.
It comes from the 'Pyren Vineyard' in the town of Warrenmang in the Pyrenees region of Victoria, where the quartz laced pink granitic soils add what Gary describes "all sorts of pink flavours" to the finished wine.
As with all of Gary's Syrahs, it is made with whole bunches (100%), indigenous yeasts, older French oak, unfined and unfiltered and aside from a touch of sulphur before bottling has no additions whatsoever. The 2016 vintage shows great depth of fruit with the classic Jamsheed lift and vitality.
Once again the Pyren is leading the charge as one of the best Jamsheed Syrah releases.
