2018 Meadowbank Riesling
Riesling from Tasmania is simply delightful when handled well. Winemaker Peter Dredge doesn't put a foot wrong when he's got fruit this good to play with.
This is a top-flight Tassie Riesling.
As is often the case with Riesling from this part of the country, retaining a little residual sweetness here was the key to balance. A wine of impeccable line and length, this is ripe for drinking immediately or tucking away for up to a decade in the cellar.
The 2018 is balanced to perfection. Long and precise and ready to drink now or in a decade.
"This is a totally, utterly delicious riesling..." - James Halliday (Halliday Wine Companion)Read more about 2018 Meadowbank Riesling
2017 Garagiste Terre Maritime Chardonnay
The Terre Maritime is a new flagship Chardonnay for Barney Flanders to sit alongside the Terre de Feu Pinot Noir as his top releases from the vintage.
This wine comes from the highest portion of the Merricks vineyard. The fruit from these precious few vines has always performed better, showing more intensity and power than the rest of the Merricks block.
With the perfect growing conditions in 2017 Barney finally pulled the trigger and bottled it separately.
This is a sensational Chardonnay. Undoubtedly one of the most impressive wines ever released from this benchmark Mornington producer.
Only two barrels were made, this will sell out. Do not hesitate.Read more about 2017 Garagiste Terre Maritime Chardonnay
2016 By Farr R.P. Pinot Noir
The RP Pinot Noir is a tribute wine to Robyn Pamela Farr, the matriarch of the Farr family, for her tireless work over the 40+ years of building this great Australian wine dynasty.
The fruit comes from an exposed site on the Côte vineyard planted by Gary. The family says these sites, with the perfect clones, perfect aspect, and perfect viticultural techniques at play, will form the backbone of the family's wine production for generations to come.
It's a more ethereal expression of Pinot Noir than the muscular Tout Pres, but in terms of quality, you'd be splitting hairs to separate them.
This is a magnificent Pinot Noir which represents a lifetime in the pursuit of excellence from Gary Farr.Read more about 2016 By Farr R.P. Pinot Noir
2017 S.C. Pannell Smart Grenache
Steve Pannell has been a leading figure in the rejuvenation and reinvention of Grenache in McLaren Vale over the last 20 years. Here we see the next step in his constant pursuit of perfection for the variety.
This year he releases two single vineyard Grenaches from McLaren Vale. This comes from the highest vineyard in McLaren Vale, high up on a hill in the Clarendon sub-region.
The vines that produced this beauty are 62 years old. No whole bunches in this wine, the brightness and ethereal quality of the fruit takes this into transcendent territory.Read more about 2017 S.C. Pannell Smart Grenache
2017 Cullen Diana Madeline
The Diana Madeline is one of the true icon wines of Australia.
Produced by one of the most respected and renowned wineries in the Margaret River, Cullen Wines, Diana Madeline represents the pinnacle of Australian viticultural and winemaking prowess and is unsurprisingly one of the top 5 most collectable wines in the country.
This elite blend of Bordeaux varieties is farmed with an almost militant adherence to the principals of biodynamic farming. Owner/winemaker Vanya Cullen is one of the most outspoken advocates of the benefits of these practices in the industry and her results speak for themselves.
If you are a collector of Australia's best Cabernet blends, the Diana Madeline is a wine you need in your cellar.Read more about 2017 Cullen Diana Madeline
2017 Yangarra King's Wood Shiraz
The King's Wood Shiraz is one of the premium, small batch releases in the excellent Yangarra portfolio.
One of the best portions of the Yangarra vineyard was selected for this wine. There were 25% whole bunches used in the ferment, the fruit hand-picked and carefully double-sorted for quality control before being hand-plunged and left to rest in a huge oak cask before bottling.
Oak is well and truly in the background here. Winemaker Peter Fraser and team highlighting the quality and vibrancy of their fruit as the hero in this wine.
This is a pristine example of McLaren Vale Shiraz at its absolute best. Poised, polished and powerful, it's a beautiful wine with a long life ahead.
"It's impossible to find anything done or not done that would improve this superb wine" - 99 points, James Halliday (Halliday Wine Compnanion)Read more about 2017 Yangarra King's Wood Shiraz
