2015 Mayford Shiraz
Eleana and Bryan at Mayford in Porepunkah produce some of the finest boutique wines in the Alpine Valleys. Their small vineyard in Porepunkah consistently produces fruit of epic intensity and utter class. Their latest release of Shiraz could very well be their best to date.
As described by Campbell Mattinson in his colossal 96 point review, "We have ourselves something special here" and with a resounding 96 point score from James Halliday, it would seem there's a consensuson the quality.
The beauty of a cool-climate combined with the power of fruit ripened in a warmer year. It's a brilliant combination and one that has been perfectly realised by Eleana. Kudos.Read more about 2015 Mayford Shiraz
2016 S.C. Pannell Syrah
Since winning the Jimmy Watson Trophy with the 2013 vintage, this Adelaide Hills Syrah has become one of the most sought after wines in the S.C. Pannell range.
For those who claimed and loved some of the highly prized '13, Steve says this release from 2016 is the closest thing to it.
It comes from a stunning vineyard in Echunga, in the south of the Adelaide Hills. Like all of Steve's wines it is built around bright fruit and beautiful tannins, and in a warmer season like 2016, it really sings.
This is the embodiment of modern cool-climate Syrah. A classy and sophisticated wine driven by perfume and spice with 96 points from James Halliday.

2017 Spinifex Syrah
Pete Schell continues to explore the possibilities with Shiraz/Syrah in his beloved Barossa Valley, and this vibrant and lifted Syrah is a gorgeous drink.
Designed as a more understated and elegant version of Barossa Shiraz, Schell picks fruit from a couple different, cooler sites in the Barossa and Eden Valleys. The grapes are picked earlier to retain freshness and perfume, before seeing a mixture of stainless steel and wooden and concrete fermenters.
Wow, it's delicious! Wild and savoury yet soft and sumptuous, this is Barossa Shiraz unlike we usually see it.
Interesting, flavour-packed and more-ish with a hugh 97 points from James Halliday, this is another winner from this superstar winemaker.Read more about 2017 Spinifex Syrah
