2018 Flowstone Queen of the Earth Sauvignon Blanc
97 points & Best Sauvignon Blanc
"Fermented and matured in a single 600l demi-muid. This is very different to its Margaret river sibling, still exceptionally powerful, yet with extraordinary purity to its citrus-dominant varietal expression." - James Halliday (Halliday Wine Companion)

"An ode to an Alsatian Edelzwicker, this is a magical potpourri of flavours and textures. In fact, it is the best blend of this ilk tasted from these shores and trust me, there are more than you may think! Limpid in the glass, the nose is an autumnal fruit bowl with gewurtz's hedonism nicely contained and folded into the meld. Hints of frangipani, lychee and spice, though, are lingering in the background. Mellifluous. The texture is a rich tapestry, unfolding in layers across the mouth. I have no idea what this costs as I taste it, but it deserves to be expensive. A profound white." - Ned Goodwin

"A classic example of a wine that is still only part of the way on the journey to full development. The colour is still quartz-green, the mouthfeel in perfect balance, and the fruit with a sweetness (not residual sugar) that is totally seductive." - James Halliday (Halliday Wine Companion)

"A cull of the best barrels, the fruit hailing from two propitious sites in the Piccadilly Valley and lower, at Lobethal. Fermented wild in tight-grained French barriques and puncheons for 10 months (50% new). Malolactic (75%) serviced a softening while imbuing poise. Judging by this, all chardonnay makers should use this ilk of wood from whatever coopers it came from. This is sexy wine. Impeccable. Subdued, yet searing of the sort of intensity of flavour that augurs for the brightest of futures. Writing of fruit references here is pointless. This wine is about texture, indelibly imprinted with a sense of place and the finest craftsmanship. Deservedly at the top of the tier." - Ned Goodwin MW

99 points & Chardonnay of the Year
"This achieves another step up the quality ladder for Leeuwin Estate, seemingly impossible. There's been no change in the vinification, nor in the vineyard. The change is an increase in the intensity of the flavours, and hence their length and aftertaste. It's an extraordinary wine, among the greatest of Burgundy (and elsewhere in the world). Whatever you expect from its future development will be delivered." - James Halliday (Halliday Wine Companion)
