About The Pack
Sam Scott has a clear vision for his La Prova label - Italian inspired wines done with an Australian sensibility.
Utilising his retail, winemaking and viticultural experience, he has crafted a range of interesting, charming wines from select vineyards through Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale, Barossa Valley and Langhorne Creek.
They are vibrant and fruit-forward but with a savoury twist and great varietal character. Value-for-money wise, the range is up there with the best in the country.
This little sampler pack will give you a great feel for what Sam is all about.
2016 La Prova Montepulciano
Grown in the sandy loam soils of Langhorne Creek, this is one of the best value versions of the variety available on the market today. Scott's love of Italian varieties oozes through every ounce of this wine. It's flamboyantly fragrant, supple and insanely moreish.
If you are only just now being seduced by the charms of Australian grown Italian varieties, the La Prova Montepulciano is going to seal the deal.Read more about 2016 La Prova Montepulciano
2016 La Prova Barossa Valley Nero d'Avola
Sam Scott's prowess with Italian varieties naturally extends to Nero d'Avola. He gets the balance of sweet and savoury just right in this 2016 release from the Barossa Valley.
As a wine designed for his own enjoyment, Sam has got this one just right. "This is exactly the style of wine I like to drink with easygoing red sauced pasta and pizza." he says. Campbell Mattinson agreed giving it 92 points and noting that "it has drinkability written all over it."Read more about 2016 La Prova Barossa Valley Nero d'Avola
2017 La Prova Sangiovese
Sam Scott's affinity with Italian varieties began with his first encounter with Sangiovese. It's a variety which many winemakers struggle their whole life with.
With this release, Sam has absolutely nailed it. The trick with Sangiovese is to maintain drinkability, harnessing the power and tannin inherent in the variety and making approachable, accessible versions which suit our Australian palates.
This is one of the most charming versions of this variety to be found anywhere in the country, ideal for enthusiasts and newcomers to the variety, alike.Read more about 2017 La Prova Sangiovese
