About The Pack
Georges Descombes is the son of a Beaujolais vigneron who found his inspiration for his own label in the legendary wines of local legend, Marcel Lapierre.
Whilst working on the bottling line for many of the local producers, Georges was taken with the purity and finesse of the wines of Lapierre who's natural approach has carved a path for so many in the region.
Georges has taken his father's traditional farming practices to another level, now having both his inherited and acquired vineyards certified organic and choosing a hands-off approach in the cellar.
Considered the unofficial fifth member of the legendary "Gang of Four" of top-flight Beaujolais revolutionaries, his wines are of the highest repute.
Here you can taste the complete selection of excellent 2018 vintage cru wines. The pack covers five crus, each with their own distinct personality. Only a limited number available.
2018 Georges Descombes Brouilly Vieilles Vignes
In 2018, Georges Descombes bottled a portion of the old vines he manages on Brouilly separately.
Though it doesn't specifically say Vieilles Vignes on the label, the red wax and different bottle shape denotes the premium selection under his label. This is considered to be one of the benchmarks for Brouilly.
This wine is singing the song of the excellent 2018 vintage in full voice.
There is just a little more of everything here - deeper fruit, richer perfume, that underlying minerality in Descombes' wines cranked up a few notches - it's a beautiful wine.

Fleurie has a reputation for being one of the most ethereal crus of Beaujolais and few capture the personality of this site like Georges Descombes.
This is one of his most sought-after cuveés. Hailing from old vines in the Grille-Midi section of the vineyard, this is a soft, enchanting red wine of beauty and personality.
It's fine boned but shows great intensity and firmness of tannin. Succulent red fruits, like cherries and strawberries picked fresh from the garden, and a billowy perfume of flowers, fresh herbs and newly-tilled earth.
Truly one of the great Fleuries, year-in-year-out.

The Saint-Amour cru sits right at the northern tip of Beaujolais.
The grapes ripen faster in the north and it can be hard to retain delicacy and freshness in the wines when not handled gently. Descombes find a striking balance of strictness and richness in his Saint-Amour, allowing the natural density of the of these grapes to show their true colours whist still maintaining a sense of levity in the wine.
There are just a handful of premium examples of Saint-Amour that make it to Australia. This is unquestionably one of the finest.
It's the darkest shade of Beaujolais that Descombes produces, and adds great colour to his range.
