2019 Nick Spencer Hilltops Malbec
The Single Vineyard range from NSW winemaker Nick Spencer celebrates his favourite vineyards across the NSW High Country.
The Malbec is from the Moppity vineyard in the Hilltops region, the site that provided the fruit for Nick's breakout Jimmy Watson Trophy-Winning Shiraz from 2008. Being the source of this pivotal wine in his career, he has a real soft spot for the fruit from this site.
He produced just 50 dozen of this wine. It's the best two barrels of Malbec that he has made to date. A killer wine in tiny supply, this is a big, bold, blue-fruited beauty that you can drink now or cellar for a decade or more.

"2017 reds are absolutely classic in their fruit profile and tannin."
Woodlands Wines
The Woodlands Margaret Cabernet Merlot Malbec has been a cellar staple of many fans of Margaret River Bordeaux blends for many years, and the 2017 release is a show-stopper.
It's the mid-tier red that satisfies both those who want quality Cabernet for long-term cellaring or just something excellent to open on the weekend. The fruit is exclusively from the Woodlands estate vineyard in Wilyabrup, Margaret River. It saw 17 months in French oak, roughly half of which was new. It's a powerful, dark and brooding wine with plenty under the hood.
A must-buy proposition for any lover of serious Margaret River Cabernet.

"Perfumed, finessed, intricate; all these things."
Campbell Mattinson (Halliday Wine Companion)
This is a more approachable version of Durif grown at the Eldorado Road vineyard by Paul and Laurie.
This is madeit is made with as minimal intervention as possible with natural fermentation, extended time on skins and basket pressing to both new and seasoned French oak.
To find a Durif with this amount of drinkability is a rare treat.
Power and darkness and complexity - Durif with finesse. What a drink!

"Wonderful, serious expression."
Mike Bennie (The Wine Front)
Louis Schofield's range spans easy-drinking, semi-experimental and some dead serious expressions of South Australia.
This wine falls in the latter camp. This is a pretty seriously serious Eden Valley Syrah.
All the fruit from this mature Springton vineyard is fermented as whole bunches, Louis looking for spice and structure to elevate the rich black and blue fruits that this vineyard produces. It's densly packed but maintains freshness in a sleek, elegant frame. It's high-class Syrah from a young SA label to watch.

"It's a wine that I retasted numerous times..."
James Halliday (Halliday Wine Companion)
Stonegarden is one of the most famous vineyards in the Barossa Valley.
These old, legendary vines produce some of the most earth-shatteringly powerful fruit in the whole region. Brett Grocke has tended these vines for many years, when he picks the fruit, he knows it intimately.
This is an imperious wine. Bold, polished, unabashed an imminently cellar-worthy. It's Grenache from one of the country's great viticultural resources and it's treated with due respect by the winemaker.
With 97 points from James Halliday, this is the perfect option for lovers of serious, premium Barossa Grenache.

"Our Rapture is a Best of Vintage blend."
Rob Mack, winemaker
Rob Mack is fleshing out the Aphelion range at the moment, bringing in new wines to showcase special parcels of fruit that he thinks best represents his label.
This is just the second release of his top blend, 'The Rapture' - the wine that Rob thinks best represents the Aphelion Wines of a particular season.
In 2018, the blend is comprised of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvedre, the holy trinity of McLaren Vale red varieties. This is a wine that will develop well with some time in a quiet, dark place. An exciting new addition to the Aphelion range.
Only 50 dozen made.
